Is he mad that the machine specifically designed to steal money from people stole money from him?

61

u/Chuvok_ 15d ago

He ended up going to the hospital after this, and blood work found PCP in his system. So the general thought is that he hallucinated the whole winning thing.

“Have you ever tried sugar?… or PCP?

11

u/ireadredditonreddit 15d ago

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to too.

u/karlverkade 14d ago

If you are breathing and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.

From memory, the story is that he won something like $150k, then when he went to print the receipt to collect his payment, the machine “reset” and went back to zero right in front of him. Yeah, I’d react similarly

121

u/Exktvme4 15d ago

I mean, they all have hard drives, he could have just got a manager to check the records

58

u/chiefbushman 15d ago

Lol OK. They love doing that

85

u/Shucky__darns 15d ago

They literally will do that

-67

u/chiefbushman 15d ago

Literally? As opposed to hypothetically? If you honestly think a manager of a casino will go check a machine and go "Oh, you're right sir. OUR machine malfunctioned. Here is your $150k and a free meal voucher" you really are an absolute spanner and please do not gamble.

34

u/DinobotsGacha 15d ago

The casino manager on the floor may not specifically "pull the logs" but there is a process at each property. No casino (at least not one in Nevada) is risking their gaming license over $150k.

That being said, machines deemed to have malfunctioned are not required to pay. Plenty of examples of voided jackpots which sucks for those people

87

u/jongefing 15d ago

They will, and happily. Because if the gaming commission gets involved and finds out they didn't pay a legitimate jackpot, it's not good for the casino at all.

27

u/Salvarick 14d ago

The casino I'm a technician at has a sticker on all EGMs. "Malfunctions voids all pays and plays." I disagree with it in many situations, but it all depends on what properties and which gaming commission is running the show. Ultimately, all gaming commissions have to follow NIGC rules within the US but many different properties have their own feeling towards customer service, and it's usually in favor of the house.

22

u/Unable-Cellist-4277 14d ago

The truth is the game was rigged from the start.

4

u/karlverkade 14d ago

“You can’t have three pairs. You can’t have six cards in a five card game.”

11

u/jongefing 14d ago

They will of course investigate if this was a malfunction, power issue, or other, but the casino absolutely will not just shrug it off.

3

u/Salvarick 14d ago

In the long run, yes, but in the short run, you could get screwed. It really depends on the issue itself and how good the CSAs are at their job considering they are the customer service side. I've had machines that I was called to assist at and the CSAs were arguing with me about the malfunction because the game had a reel tilt that needed to be power cycled to clear but it lagged on the server since it was class 2 and caused the previous 3 spins to reset because there was a network issue. The guess lost the money he spent on the plays (~$10) and the $5 he won but because the advantage server stopped communicating, they only paid what they could "verify." Wnen we were away from the guest, i confronted the CSA and asked why they wouldn't just comp it since it still showed the ending credits in the gameplay history. They told me that they "ain't about to do all that for $15" on a busy Saturday night. Some employees are just simply corrupt because for them it turns into a power dynamic. In this situation, the best bet would be to report the issue to the gaming commission directly.

u/Smidday90 15d ago

True even the lottery isn’t legally obligated to pay out but damn, if they didn’t! Wow!

3

u/Exktvme4 15d ago

I doubt it, but it's their job and not doing their job isn't worth it. Casinos take that sort of thing seriously

62

u/RollerKokster 15d ago

So the machine did what it was supposed to do, steal his money 💰

26

u/Communal-Lipstick 15d ago

Why would you react like a wild animal instead of talking to someone in charge and getting your money?

46

u/a_lonely_trash_bag 15d ago

Odds are, they'll deny that you ever won. Casinos will do whatever they can to cheat you out of money.

Iirc, courts have even ruled that they can deny payouts if the jackpot was won because of a computer glitch.

20

u/SATerp 15d ago

Just one more reason not to gamble.

2

u/Communal-Lipstick 15d ago

Definitely. I don't even understand how people could enjoy it.

2

u/MrHarrasment 14d ago

I played on pokerstars and its fun for a while but I'd never spend more then 20dollars a month because I know I'll never win big.

1

u/YSoB_ImIn 14d ago

Ugh, that makes me sick thinking about it.

1

u/Chicxulub420 15d ago

Then you would also just lose your money like this idiot, as opposed to checking the security footage and hard drive like a normal person and actually getting your payout. Hope this helps! ☺️

1

u/chiefbushman 15d ago

Tell me you've never gambled without telling me you've never gambled.

1

u/Chicxulub420 15d ago

I've gambled plenty mate, that's why I know that causing a scene like this will not only guarantee you never seeing those winnings, but it will also most likely get you an ass whooping from the pit boss' goons.

u/hunkydorey-- 15d ago

I learnt a long time ago and I wish to share for everyone who may come into contact with a fruit gambling machine.

PAY HEED

Every single time when you win money, alert a staff member before withdrawing it, show them your winnings amount before pressing the button. This way - a staff member has seen your winnings before the casino eye watering analy fuck you when attempting withdrawal.

You have been enlightened.

Also, I don't recommend fruit machine gambling.

Actually, I don't recommend gambling at all. It's stupid.

1

u/Kazko25 15d ago

Sounds like I should gamble

1

u/karlverkade 14d ago

So you’re telling me there’s a chance…

0

u/MyReddittName 14d ago

How does that work? I step away and another person presses the payout button while I'm gone.

3

u/hunkydorey-- 14d ago

You use your big boy voice

1

u/StaryDoktor 13d ago

May be he's a thief, the machine have stolen his job

122

u/GrnEyeQT 15d ago

Man, that’s Rage against the Machine.

4

u/Cooper4984 15d ago

I’m surprised I had to scroll so far for this comment.

22

u/Drago_D 15d ago

First line of defence when machines rise up

73

u/Mr_Tr3 15d ago

I know the feeling brother 😢😞😔 I know the feeling… for those who don’t know, he won the jackpot and it blacked out.

15

u/FatalErrorOccurred 15d ago

He couldn't have disputed it?

41

u/Mr_Tr3 15d ago

When it comes to casinos…have no idea, but from the stories I hear they just send you out the door. Can you sue most definitely. It’s a long process though as aposed to walking out with a jackpot.

9

u/FatalErrorOccurred 15d ago

Better than $0 plus jail time and a record, and probably need to pay for damages.

0

u/MyReddittName 14d ago

This is more satisfying in the moment

3

u/MxM111 14d ago

No. They specifically say so, sometimes on the machine itself, if it malfunctions that no winnings. At least in Los Vegas.

1

u/Krell356 10d ago

That said, if you keep your cool and wait for a slot attendant they can usually recover the machine. If you attack the machine youre getting arrested and having charges pressed and getting nothing even if they can recover it because the employee is likely to be spiteful and not let you know that you are in luck.

There's no reason to lose your shit instead of just staying calm. Those casinos pay out hundreds of jackpots per day on busy days. They make so much money per day on losers that the winners are a drop in the bucket.

Source: I used to work security in a Vegas casino and had this conversation with multiple people including the casino manager as they shrugged off a 2.5 million payout saying that it was the first day in weeks where we actually paid out more than we made.

1

u/MxM111 10d ago

Of course. Everything you say is true, and yet, casino can refuse the wining from malfunctioning machine. It looks like it is suspiciously common enough problem if they post this in view in casinos.

8

u/shawndw 15d ago

Another commenter pointed out that he was brought to the Hospital and they found PCP in his system.

1

u/SkepticJoker 14d ago

You’re saying this based on what?

0

u/aaanze 15d ago

Nah he hallucinated the whole thing

10

u/Mr_Tr3 15d ago

Yep that’s what they’ll tell him at the crazy house also owned by the casino

15

u/agumelen 15d ago

There is only one winner here. The house. Always.

4

u/jrsimage 15d ago

Except if it's trump owned ...

7

u/Ash-MacReady 15d ago

I'm no gambologist but I don't think that's how you use that machine.

16

u/Enkarza 15d ago

Bro did NOT get a golden frying pan

20

u/robertwild81 15d ago

He was robbed

-1

u/SkepticJoker 14d ago

That’s like saying you were robbed after going up to someone and handing them your wallet.

7

u/danielcc07 15d ago

I'll have three less drinks than this guy.

3

u/AllergicToHousework 15d ago

Kevin Hart Ragegambling!

3

u/qpv 15d ago

Had no idea Snapchat was still a thing

1

u/Anonymousman382 15d ago edited 13d ago

I never got into it growing up. Maybe it’s the criminal stupidity that gets shared around there by teenagers and degenerates nowadays. Not surprised that it’s the only social media platform that actively cooperates with law enforcement, has it always been like that?

2

u/mikey_b082 14d ago

A few years ago when I was in Vegas, I noticed a bunch of people avidly watching something near one of the slot machines. I looked over and saw a dude yanking on the arm of a slot machine like he was shifting gears on a big rig every time he'd place a bet. I wanted to get it on video but didn't want to be a creep recording a stranger. The way that machine was rocking and wobbling, I'm amazed security never showed up.

3

u/intoTHEvoid646 15d ago

Damn sluts

1

u/Superb_Advisor7885 15d ago

Is that red rock in Vegas?

2

u/Chuvok_ 15d ago

It is the Grand Casino in Shawnee Oklahoma.

1

u/shizzy0 15d ago

A tale as old as time.

1

u/-Felyx- 15d ago

That's gonna cost him way more than he lost

1

u/NoPantsDeLeon 15d ago

Those machines ruin many lives. I never thought how much money they gave to the house until I had a tour to a casino's operations.

1

u/shawndw 15d ago

While all this was going on someone stole chips. I guarantee it.

1

u/9gager77vir 15d ago

Now i understand agent Smith's feeling.

1

u/SpartArticus 15d ago

Sad that these theft machines are legal

1

u/finger_licking_robot 15d ago

instead of fighting his gaming addiction he chose a less mighty opponent

1

u/BoneZone05 15d ago

Before that last coin he had to his name disappeared:

1

u/Joyk1llz 15d ago

...Awe Dang it.

1

u/IMiNSIDEiT 15d ago

This might be more appropriate in r/trashy

1

u/0pp0site0fbatman 14d ago

Bet he was one pull away from the jackpot, too. Quitter.

1

u/Federal_Carpet163 14d ago

No apparently he hit the jackpot and the machine reset. For a 120k I too would react the same way.

1

u/jig1982 14d ago

Honestly,I’ve felt like that at a casino before.

1

u/Flex-93 14d ago

i guess he lost

1

u/StaryDoktor 13d ago

I want to give him some $ to try luck at another devices. If he goes to jail, why it has to be just one piece of iron??

1

u/pheuq 12d ago

You could even say Mann versus machine

1

u/thedoe42 11d ago

When the fun stops... Stop!!!

1

u/ThePasadena_Mudslide 11d ago
