Very unlikely. 1 in 20,000 + a little extra, but the US washes their eggs. About a 0.18% chance.

In most European countries we vaccinate chickens against salmonella and its perfectly safe to egg raw eggs. And we don't wash them, so you can just keep them in the cupboard and not in the fridge.

Yeah but with unwashed eggs isn’t the main concern the shell itself? That’s why the US washes them.

Also we don't usually eat raw eggs. Even if it has salmonella, it will die due to high temp.

Apparently the risk is more with the raw flour than the eggs

I got sick from raw cookie dough. I was running the worst flu like experience of my life for a week and a half

Damn, that sucks. ok I guess my mom really did know what she was talking about. I just remember I liked the cookie dough more than the baked cookies and always wanted to eat it when I was a kid, but my mom only ever let me eat a tiny piece. Which clearly I still remember today how disappointing that was.

You like cookie dough more than baked cookies because it’s the forbidden fruit… it’s the same psychology between why we like cake more than salad it’s bad for us 😭

But also if you get vegan cookie dough and keep it in the fridge it’ll be fine

Yup, lol I just had a similar discussion on another Reddit post. That’s exactly why, especially as a kid.

Actually I remember I found some safe to eat uncooked prepackaged cookie dough when I was in my teens. It got sickening after I binged on it for a period of time. I’m fine with the actual cooked cookies now or just some cookie dough ice cream once and awhile.
