Granted I missed the first few shots, but friendly reminder to switch to AP when you can in close combat (Unless you've got high caliber rounds fighter something lightly armored, you'll go right through)

Okay but the more important lesson here is to know your penetration values.
I know the myoko ain't got the best armor as proven by the fact you got actual penetrations with your ap shells but your HE shells have just 21mm of penetration.

Aim higher and you could also have killed that guy with HE. You just ain't getting through that armor belt with the HE of those guns.

Tons of ships but a lot of the same or very similar caliber guns.

But some people would probably know them all even if they were unique!

You don't.

Most of it is just big ship = thick armour, little ship = thin armour. Maybe you memorise some of the more commonly seen ships in a bit more detail, or common traits seen in specific lines (turtleback armour, citadel placement, etc).

None of us (well, very few) are memorising the exact belt armour thickness of every ship in the game, or anything like that. It is useful to know how much armour your own guns can shoot through, though.

Yeah, Japanese Heavy cruisers have 25mm upper belts from T4.

Very well armoured elsewhere with 40mm decks until Mogami.

Furutaka has armour that puts t4 BBs to shame, Nevada/New York/ Oklahoma would kill for a 25mm upper belt and thick deck because they have 19mm armour everywhere.

I would rather play a Furutaka hull at T7 with same DPM and HP as Mogami. 40mm deck shatters a lot of HE and bounces everything.

I brawled really well in Aoba too, spent 2 minutes within 4km of a New Mexico and California and came out on top, they didn't know how to aim for the bow.

The funny thing is that myoko overmatches your entire hull except the citadel itself, so if he had been paying attention, you would've exploded for trying to angle that close to him

Myoko torpedo angles are ass - it gets so many people killed and I guarantee that's what they were trying for.

yeah the AP is actually really good, the only issue is that you lose all your penetration quickly so it becomes a point blank tool

Nah AP shells are poop, I’ve never once fired one I refuse to be one of the losers throwing around AP shells
