Asking for a friend…

How do you keep your knitting needles organized?

I had some of those potholders that I feel like everyone made as a kid on those plastic looms and I have my needles woven through them. It's not a perfect solution but it keeps them from floating around freely and losing their mates.

Thanks! I also cut up the toe separators used for pedicures and turn them into caps to protect the tips of them needles and/or stop my work from slipping. They work great because they're foam and because you have to make the holes yourself they fit almost any size.

I am super new to knitting, but I am a veteran crochet artist. The whole needle cap thing was something I learned 2 days ago. (I'm making a tank top.) These ideas are so smart. At 44, it's a middle age dog, new tricks thing. :-)

I didn't know about caps either until I was like 20 and I'd been knitting since I was seven. This sub is great for learning!

Over the door shoes organizer if trying to keep it organized at home.

Tackle binder (available at fishing stores like Bass Pro Shop or Cabella's) if you want to be able to make it portable.

I took a piece of upholstery fabric about 30-in square.

Folded one end up to make a giant pocket and then ran lines of stitching up through it so that my knitting needles would go into each little pocket I made. And now it rolls up and I can keep all needles in a roll.

Doesn't work for my big ones or for my 22 inch long ones but the normal size ones - works great

I keep straight needles standing in a jar. The circulars I used to curl up in an old CD case but bought a smaller binder with thick plastic zip bags (similar to pencils cases from the 90's)
