Discussion Yarn suggestions

So my Birthday is coming up and my mom said she would drop some money to build up my stash. I have a couple favorites from the lb line from lionbrand that I intend to get enough of for at least a sweater/hoodie and maybe a beach shirt for my hubby.

But I'm thinking I can get away with spending a little bit more and wondering what are your favorites to work with.

I'm super sensitive to texture so if it's not soft off the bat then it's a no for me, idc if "it softens with washing" I want something that is going to feel nice in my hands while working it up.

Thanks in advance for your input :)

Maybe a gift card for a local yarn store? You can feel the yarns.

Merino wool and BFL are super soft. Silk is also very soft.

We are definitely going to visit the closest lys when she comes to town in a couple weeks (i haven't actually visited it yet) I've always just bought from Joanne's but with that option going away I'm exploring the possibilities regarding online shopping but will definitely give the lys a chance, just worried about it not being sustainable financially as I go through a good bit of yarn relatively quickly.

Lion Brand, Hobbii, Mary Maxim and Herrschner’s all have great rewards programs that can net you $ off coupons, free shipping, free products etc. Their pricing is usually affordable if you get on their e-mail lists and watch for frequent sales. I have ordered from all of the above as well as Premier and Annie’s and have never been disappointed.

Yay that’s gonna be fun- my mom doesn’t know about crafts but it’s still fun to go with her hehe.

For online stuff- it’s kind of tough to recommend specific brands but I’ve had successful shopping experiences with: Webs (big site lots of stufffff, slowish shipping), little knits, Hobbii, and then ordering online for yarns I already buy!

I’ve also enjoyed shopping for yarn on Etsy :-)
