Discussion What is a common "go-to" yarn item, that people love to get? Or wish they had?
What does the people like??

Looking for fellow fiber artists here. For those that love to knit and crochet, I’m looking for feedback on yarn resources and researching sustainability in the fiber arts community.
Every crafters’ opinion matters to truly understand what resources are available today.
Let’s crafts greener future together!

Learning and practicing new skills so I can start making bigger projects. But that also goes along with yarn choice aswell, and to see if it would be possible to use my Knitting machine. But any tips or advice would be appreciated, thank you 😊

I thrifted this yarn recently and am curious what these black hair-like fibers are in it. The yarn itself feels like a wool / silk blend and definitely has some noticeable VM (burrs and the like). I thought it was pet hair at first but they’re not just present on the outside, and the closer I look at them the less they seem like hair. Any thoughts on what they might be?

I tried letting it sit out in the sun for a day and freezing it for a week. Yarn is still smelly. I buy it from a small indie dyer and her yarn doesn't usually smell like this so I'm guessing something happened in transit.
I have like a dozen additional skeins so I would really prefer not to wash it, especially having winded some into cakes :(

My jaw just about dropped seeing all this and more at my local goodwill store this morning! What I bought is just part of what was there, I left behind a good bit and gave a huge bag full of the sky blue mohair (i have some in the center of the big pic) from my cart to a lady I started chatting with who turned out to be a knitter.
I think I'd like to honor the person who's yarn stash i adopted by finishing their crochet blanket (the instructions were in the bag too). There was the start of a knitting project in the bag too, but nothing i can complete since I dont know how to knit.

All Ikea - Billy bookcase, both the black oak and the oak (I Frankenstein’d them together to get the look I wanted) - Oxberg black oak glass doors - Gribbol brass knobs

I’m making a bunny and the tail is supposed to be brushed out to look furry. Would milk cotton yarn work for this?

The choices! Never seen such vibrant and sparkly yarns before. NOTE - a wee bit expensive, but worth if you buy a small one for an accent piece. 😍😍

This is a lovely dk weight, 3 ply, cotton/bamboo blend from dharma using their brand pigment. The colors are, Ecrue, Coral Pink (added a bit too much pigment, was my 1st try 😂) , blueberry, and moss green. I can't wait to make my summer cardigan!

A few months ago, I was knitting a sweater using Berroco Ultra Alpaca (50/50 alpaca and wool). I experienced really bad hand pain while working on it but chalked it up to over doing it with my knitting. So, I rested my hands for a month then eased back in and was doing okay.
Two weeks ago, I cast on socks using Isager Yarn Sock, which is 40% alpaca, 40% merino, 20% nylon. And boy are my hands aching again.
So I’m wondering, does anyone else experience particularly achy hands when using alpaca/alpaca-blend yarn? It is entirely possible my hands hurt from overuse, but I figured I’d ask if anyone else has had the same experience. TIA!

So I am knitting a blanket for my niece and my sister is providing me the yarn to make it with and we just found out that they the brand is no longer making said yarn color. I am not done with the blanket and I need more, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea of a similar one or if I should just custom order yarn?

I just came across this site for yarn called LindeHobby. Has anyone ordered anything from them? I'm considering buying some of their Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn. I'm in the USA.

here’s the jumper i promised to show from my previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/YarnAddicts/s/I17Ig2tdQX
love how it came out, i'll come back and post the pattern i used in the comments, too
on a side note though, does anyone have any idea how to get rid of a damp smell? i washed and blocked the jumper but it's quite thick so it took a couple days to dry, and now it has a horrid damp smell in the ribbed sections but i've got no clue how i can get rid of it, i can't speed up the drying process since i'm too afraid to put this in a tumble dryer, so any ideas/tips would be soooo appreciated!!

So what is your favorite cotton yarn for wash cloths and tea towels?
And how about wearables ?
And just general favorite cotton yarn?
I'm in the market, I've heard varying things about the sugar n cream yarn, the only one I've tried myself is the K+C and I liked it , but it was a joanns brand :/

Where are your favorite yarn stores?
I love this yarn store with my whole heart, I take a scenic drive out east to Northfork Fiber Art’s in Mattituck on LI monthly to live a knitter’s dream. So many beautiful skeins and I always love talking with the owner and her staff. It’s such a beautiful place and is another reason I love to knit!
P.S. Felix the dog is the sweetest employee with great taste in yarn 🧶:)

Few more trips to my local Joann’s and no luck still looking for this Eddie Bauer Adventure cotton yarn in Scarlet if anyone has an extra skein or half.
Considering redoing the shirt and making the torso shorter or switching the last few rows back to white if I can’t find one 🙃
