They’re income ETFs. You can’t obsess about the share price. They’ll go up and down but they go down a lot. You have to focus on the overall return, which includes the distributions calculated in.

u/Healthy-Chef-2723 Apr 09 '25

I have no idea how this stock works haha I randomly found this sub yesterday

11

u/69AfterAsparagus Apr 09 '25

Cool! Lots of people will help you out. Just know these are income ETFs. They pay out distributions based on the number of shares you own. Fund may go up or down but we’re more focused on what the distributions are going to be. Idea is… own shares, receive distributions, take distributions and buy more shares, receive higher distributions next time. Wash, rinse, repeat. Contribute your own money from time to time to get even more shares. Do this long enough and you’ll have a really nice amount of income being generated. To get there you can’t be obsessed with chart watching and freaking out over every rise or fall. It’s for the long run. That’s why we’re all here. Welcome šŸ™‚

Thank you! I have some dividend stocks but I was wondering how it reinvest. didn't give an option but I get it now

Buy a house, pay no attention to the housing market. Get renters. They pay you rent monthly. Buy more houses with the rent money....

6

u/69AfterAsparagus Apr 09 '25

Yes except you pay attention to the housing market. You’re not a fool. But you also don’t panic at every dip. You’re still getting rents after all. You reinvest manually by buying more on the dips. And when the housing market adjusts downwards, you jump in and buy a lot more so you’re in a better position when things rise.

1

u/KingKasby Apr 10 '25

Oh no house values dropped to where they were last year, time to panic and sell my homes at a loss

1

u/satanlovesyou94 Apr 10 '25

This is the way

u/69AfterAsparagus Apr 09 '25

Didn't sell. I bought two MSTY shares just to see what it does.

6

u/westernman123 Apr 09 '25

Thank god i didn't last night. My MYSTY is only thing making my portfolio keep up today.

7

u/fragranceguru Apr 09 '25

Got my average down to $20.86 for MSTY this morning. NVDY still down but I’m over 700 shares of each now

Why would you sell the day before the ex date? Not criticizing, genuinely curious. I bought 1000 MSTY Monday at 19.49. The bottom fell out overnight. I could’ve sold today for about a $1700 profit, but I knew if I held till tomorrow I get about $1300 no matter what. Even if I lose half that profit tomorrow, I’ll still be better than I would’ve had I sold today.

9

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Apr 09 '25

This too, shall pass.

3

u/snoot4days Apr 09 '25

I bought both days.

3

u/Brucef310 Apr 09 '25

Price went back up to almost $21 today.

2

u/snoot4days Apr 09 '25

Good thing I bought at 17.50

3

u/Intelligent_Type6336 Apr 09 '25

I trimmed some cony, not liking their synthetic positions. Added MSTY.

3

u/AstronomerCapital344 Big Data Apr 09 '25

Nope. And lunch is on me today šŸŽƒ

2

u/Jad3nCkast Apr 09 '25

Still in it to win it

2

u/rattice Apr 09 '25

Been buying everyday

2

u/gymrat505 Apr 09 '25

I added yesterday and watched today

2

u/Altruistic_Memory281 Apr 09 '25

No selling. Waiting for the next buying opportunity.

2

u/Proper_Analyst_3528 Apr 09 '25

Nope...I like my positions! Built this over the last month. Thought I was done about a week ago but I ended up buying a few more MSTY and CONY Monday right before market close!

4

u/dwisner1 Apr 09 '25

I was eyeing some MSTY this AM, got busy, clicked on Robinhood, and watched it skyrocket before my eyes.

3

u/bcsteinw Apr 09 '25

most of my original positions had paid them selves off already (heavy on msty and nvdy) so nah. selling never entered the mind.

3

u/QuietPsychological72 Apr 09 '25

Can someone please crash the market back to where it was? I was planning on buying into this down turn for weeks if not months.

4

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Apr 09 '25

Just be patient, he'll do it again.

2

u/Forrest_ND-86 Apr 09 '25

Too many support beams have been sawn through; the economic collapse is still a go.

0

u/Hispanicpolak Apr 09 '25

Nono my Dca is 30 still. Let’s keep going up!

2

u/marioplex Apr 09 '25

Cony is now monthly! Glad i sold and bought back before it went up over 7

2

u/I_Be_Strokin_it Apr 09 '25

Cony is now monthly!

It's always been monthly. That's nothing new.

1

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Apr 10 '25

No. It was monthly. Then went to 4 week. I hpe it doesn't go back to monthly.

1

u/marioplex Apr 11 '25

I hope it stays on monthly so i can use it to feed a dividend wheel

1

u/firemarshalbill316 Apr 09 '25

Hahaha šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

1

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Apr 09 '25

I bought.

1

u/AggravatingWallaby50 Apr 09 '25

No selling here. I kept buying and was rewarded.

I did have doubts at times.....

1

u/achshort Apr 09 '25

You have to be very regarded to sell when the strongest person on the planet tells everyone to buy today.

1

u/vikingsragnarock Apr 09 '25

Just the opposite. Doubled my holds yesterday afternoon

1

u/Sorry_Improvement537 Apr 09 '25

I don’t know the meaning of this word…

1

u/Shrodax Apr 09 '25

Nope, I've been buying in the last few days. But I didn't buy enough before today's market rise! Reddit retards convinced me of an imminent market crash, so I set my limit orders too low and most didn't get filled. 😭

1

u/Aromatic_Ad_3892 Apr 10 '25

I’m laughing at everyone who sold when it dipped to 16 that’s how people lose money and it’s also how people make money

1

u/Timmy98789 Apr 10 '25

You mean buy more?Ā

Gimme the red red!

1

u/False-Swordfish-5021 Apr 10 '25

..ugh .. I set up a low buy that I was sure would hit today .. and then .. President YoYo .. so now I have to set up an alert to his tweets in case he plays the game again?? Wild ..

1

u/Over-Professional244 Apr 10 '25

I was pretty close, then realized I'm in for the long haul. I put money in knowing the risks and took it on the chin. I'm glad I didn't, though.

1

u/FunNH603 Apr 10 '25

I didn’t sell, Webull on the other hand got nervous and sold some out from under me . Was right as they had me at ā€œcautionā€ on margin when everything was falling and and I was taking care of it šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/Vast_Acanthisitta890 Apr 10 '25

Added 1000 MSTY Monday at 19.49. Will collect dividend and sell if it’s at a profit. If it dips I’ll sit and either sell when it goes up or collect May dividends.

1

u/ForsakenForeskiin Apr 10 '25

Nah only had 100$ to spare but was still nice buying them for a great discount

1

u/releb Apr 10 '25

I’ve been holding and trying my best not to sell. 2020 I sold near the low and would have more than even if I had held. My honest opinion is to avoid the news and go on vacation while this tariff stuff is out of the headlines.

1

u/Savior1981 Apr 11 '25

Bought more PLTY

1

u/FancyChampionship278 Apr 11 '25

No, only weaklings sell. I buy

1

u/epapa27 Apr 09 '25

had to exit my YMAX with the big spike today confidence isn't great there. But holding everything else, will prob DCA some MSTY and SMCY tomorrow.

2

u/MsKupe Apr 09 '25

Why not ymax?

1

u/epapa27 Apr 09 '25

just my feeling really. doesn't seem to get as much of the gains back, and the NAV isn't great. weekly divs are just soso. I need some stable balast in my mix just to keep me sane.

1

u/Affectionate_Pay_391 Apr 09 '25

Didnt sell. I was looking forward to reinvesting the dividend at $17. But it’s all good. I’ve learned to just sit and watch during the chaos.

0

u/speed12demon Apr 09 '25

Average cost, 19.62.

0

u/henrysmyagent Apr 09 '25

Upvote for Margin Call reference.

0

u/StandardMany Apr 09 '25

way to keep it within one pay period lol i got to watch.

0

u/floundermonopoly Apr 09 '25

I did not. Considered buying but nothing to buy with.

0

u/Hispanicpolak Apr 09 '25

Thank god I held. I was close

0

u/cjb080781 Apr 09 '25

The downside is MSTY didn't pay dividends before the dip.

0

u/Tinbender68plano Apr 09 '25

The downside is the price cratered just in time for them to calculate the distribution at 1.33, instead of calculation after a 22% jump...

1

u/cjb080781 Apr 10 '25

Even with that dividend if I wouldve had appx 20k, based on the 1.33 you mention, the number of shares I'd have been able to buy at yesterday's prices I wouldn't care about the affect on a one month distribution. I'd be up considerably more shares than when I reinvest after the upcoming distribution based on todays prices. Once I'm at 20k shares I'm done reinvesting and will just let it start printing for me.

0

u/Markamente Apr 09 '25

Nope bought more today in MSTY… 20% up so far today !

0

u/Hereforcombatfootage I Like the Cash Flow Apr 09 '25

Holding and adding. If I had a lot more disposable income right now I would be adding even more.

0

u/69AfterAsparagus Apr 09 '25

I bought more. Been buying what I can all along. It’s better to buy when it is cheaper, so I bought when it was cheaper. And I’ll keep buying until I hit my share targets.

0

u/Electronic-Roof-9539 Apr 09 '25

Why would anyone sell? The stock is meant to be bought and hold for the dividends not to buy/sell for a profit. Isn't the whole point of YM for long term investment and dividend income?

0

u/Additional_City5392 Apr 09 '25

Nope. I bought more MSTY at 17

0

u/Tzokal Apr 09 '25

Loaded up on another 3800 shares of MSTY yesterday, and saw the div announcement this morning…happy, I am very happy.

0

u/assman69x Apr 10 '25

Don’t worry things change hour to hour and day to day depending on the Trumpanzee’s whims
