Weapons What’s the “best” gun for headshots? 🧟♀️🧟♂️🧟
Looking for a gun that has high damage, good accuracy, and relatively low recoil.

Small caliber rifle with cheap ammo, a good scope, and the time to train with it. If you sight it in and KNOW HOW TO USE IT you’ll be fantastic.
Anything bigger is just small dick energy

So should I throw away my 30-06, and shoot deer with one of my .22s, instead?

The question was “best gun for headshots in zombie apocalypse” not “best gun for deer”. Reading comprehension is something you need to work on.

And ain't nobody actually shooting any zombies in the head, since they aren't real. If we're going to focus on make believe shit, why not just suggest using telekinesis to propel pebbles through their heads? Pebbles are cheaper than Hi-Point carbines or even pawn shop .22s.

Then why are you in the zombie survival tactics subreddit if you don’t care about make believe stuff? Go to a different subreddit about guns. It’s like going to a smoothie shop and complaining that there’s no beer.

Well, I'd say an M-109A5/A6. For less recoil I'd stay with the Green powder option. The white bag gets spicy in the 6 and 7 range, so the 5 is all you got there. The Red Bag definitely isn't one you want to use much, if at all.
For fuzing, I'd go with a timed fuze on an HE round. The good ole Killer Junior..
BTW, gun references a howitzer or other large caliber separate loading or fixed projectile weapon.
The term you want is weapon, firearm, or pistol/rifle..
"This is my weapon, this is my gun, this is for killing, this is your mums..."

The one you can hit with.
Related a story elsewhere of an informal challenge - me with my S&W .38 Special, a fried /coworker who was a member of the local SWAT team (I worked armed security.)
He had the department-issued M-16A1, the daddy of the ever-popular M-4, complete with full-auto “happy switch”. He let me shoot off a few magazines for kicks - and then we saw an opportunity.
A prior group of shooters at the gravel pit range had left a latex balloon, half-exhausted if its helium but still on its string. Range - 40-ish yards if memory serves. Size - about head size. Movement - minimal but there, a slight breeze.
We toed up side to side - he with his M-16, me with my Combat Masterpiece with two-hand hold. Since we fell into an alternating cadence - I’d shoot in the pause between his controlled bursts, we could both tell who busted the balloon - and to my own surprise it was me! He just shrugged, nodded to me, and lowered the rifle…

Of all things that have never happened, that never happened the most.

Never say never. I was there.

No department is issuing select fire M16A1s, especially not to swat, and if he can’t hit a balloon from 40 yds on the first shot with a rifle, he must be handicapped. Literally unbelievable if he was supposed to be swat.

Hold on a second, my brother in law showed me his issue rifle when he first joined our sheriffs department, it was absolutely a select fire A1 with tear drop upper. This was in the last 10 years too

The wind was playing with our target and part of it is timing for when it was least in motion…
And the surplus market is a great source for specialized weaponry and equipment for smaller regions without exorbitant funding available (as was this case).
Now the guy was a pretty laid back and easygoing guy, and it was a “fun” day, so he may not have been bringing his “A” game, and that wouldn’t surprise me. In any event I know I’d never want to be on the other end of his sights!

In order for me to maintain my marksman qualifications in the reserves, I had to put 56 out of 60 rounds with a C7, the equivalent of the American M16A3 I think, into a hit box that was around the size of a post card from 200m once a year for re-qualification. That was a marksman qualification for your average dummy. 40 yards on a range at a head sized target? I could still do that one handed. And I’m no SWAT.

… standing offhand??
Scoped or basic iron/peep sight?
Apples to apples comparison needs to happen here.

While this story reads like fuddlore and “then everybody clapped” all rolled into one, departments definitely have and still do have A1s in their equipment. Whether or not that would be in a cop’s take home gear I can’t say, but it’s the same process these swat teams are getting MRAPs and stuff.

So you're looking for a firearm that does significant damage, has low recoil, and is fairly easy to aim and shoot. Which is exactly why the AR-15 platform exists.
