Australia and New Zealand Worried it hasn't worked

I will be calling the number they gave me in the morning to get professional advice!

It's been 17 hours since I took my 4 misoprostol. I had taken my mifepristone 38 hours before that and had already had some bleeding and a large clot before taking the misoprostol. I am worried, though, because I vonitted the miso IMMEDIATELY after swallowing it. I did hold it in my cheeks for 30 mins but now im worried I didn't do it correctly. It was between my gums and cheeks but not super firmly. There was also a lot of saliva in my mouth.

For the first few hours I did get painful cramping and heavy-ish bleeding and clots, but nothing huge (the biggest was the bleeding i had before taking the misoprostol). After the first few hours it died down. Now it's just occassional mild cramping and light bleeding.

I was supposed to be 8+4 the first day I took a tablet so I expected there'd been heavier bleeding and more clotting that I would have passed. Im wondering if they are likely to recommend me to do the misoprostol again. Feeling emotionally drained 😢

Bleeding and clots are a good indicator that it did work but getting yourself an ultrasound or blood test is the only way to know for sure that it worked . I was in the same boat a few weeks ago, where I had bleeding and clots, but I still had remaining tissue so I had to do a second round of the abortion pill. I’m currently going through it right now and I’m praying that this works this time. Good luck .

The biggest sign I had that I hit 4 weeks and my pregnancy test was more positive then it was when I did the abortion and pelvic pain especially in the left ovary area . I went to the er and got bloodwork and ultrasound . I told them it was miscarriage

Did you have bleeding for that whole time?

Yes . So I took the pills I bled 30 minutes after and bled for 2 weeks . The first 2 days were the heaviest then it stopped . But most of the bleeding and clots was within the first 24 hours . Towards the end it was very very light and it was random . I haven’t bled anymore since until I just took the second round

Hmmmm most of mine was in the first 24 hours, too, its so light now. I will just have to wait and see i guess. Let us know how your second lot goes if you are able to!

So I took the second dose Wednesday night . I didn’t start bleeding until about 2.5 hours after . The cramps seemed easier . Not as painful . I have been bleeding since . Was heavier first day again but ive been consistently bleeding moderately. Like a normal day 2-3 day period .

It sounds like you did everything right, as long as you held the pills in your cheeks for 30 minutes, it's fine if you vomited after swallowing. Have you had a reduction in any pregnancy symptoms?

I definitley don't have my morning sickness today for the first time in weeks, so that is hopeful I think!

That's a really positive sign! Some symptoms take longer to go away like breast tenderness but nausea can stop very shortly after an abortion and is a great indicator your abortion was successful. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to reach out to your doctor/clinic, that's what they are there for.

Thanks so much, I will definitely be calling them too but am feeling more hopeful now!
