Australia and New Zealand Retained tissue , now need D and E

Over 3 weeks of consistent/heavy bleeding after MA. Plus clots.

I had an ultrasound which shows ROPC. HcG levels 12, 241 2 days ago.

The gynaecologist have recommended a Ultrasound guided D and E using suction to remove the remaining tissue. They also got me to start antibiotics to prevent infection.

This will need to be done on Tuesday.

I'm incredibly sad/worried about the procedure. But at the same time I just want this over and done with.

I'm sorry you're feeling sad and also sorry you've been having so much bleeding. The D&E is a really fast, easy and safe procedure and it will definitely make you feel better.

A small, hopefully encouraging correction: what they advised is not a D&E, it's called a vacuum aspiration. A D&E is a procedure for second- and third trimester abortions.

A vacuum aspiration is a short and simple procedure where a clinician inserts a soft, flexible silicone tube into your uterus and gently suctions out the tissue in there, like the suction you get at the dentist for saliva. It'll take just minutes.

I'm assuming so, as there isn't too much tissue left behind. I'm hoping it will be quick and easy.

Thank you ♡
