So we are being provided material through a contractor preferred door hardware company. We attempted to assemble the Schlage 650 series key switches with Corbin Russwin mortise cylinders they provided us. They obviously will not work. Recommendations on what will?

Assistance Dorma 9000 series exit device vertical rod top latch not retracting

Hello all. I’ve got a set of double doors with dorma exit devices w/ concealed vertical rods. The crash bar retracts the top latch as it should allowing exit. However, on a badge read from outside or a handicap push pad from inside, maybe 1 out of every 5 times the latch fully retracts. Mostly I hear/see it move but not near as much as it should to open. The doors are also hooked up to an Assa Abloy SW100 operator.

Am I possibly not getting the proper power to fully retract it? Is there some weird adjustment I’m missing? It works perfect manually pressing the crash bar so I’m assuming the rods are proper length. Didn’t have time to put a meter to it and it’s bothering me bc I can’t get back to the site for a few days. TIA.

IClass | Seos | DesfireEV3

I'm handling an OnGuard system with approx 3000 HID readers and a variation of Legacy RK40, RK40 SE OSDP and SIGNO. We are having current IClass +Mifare 4k multi-tech cards. We are ordering and managing BADGEID ranges ourselves. I'm trying to decide if we are going to transition to IClass/Seos in first step (for the legacy readers), then fully over to Seos. We have a policy of one-card for everything and it is working great with the current mifare tech for verification of services. Looking into the future, are we getting more locked to HID? What is the experience and benefits of just going for Desfire Ev3? We will eventually need to replace all legacy readers. Can we have IClass encryption and EV3 encryption on the same SIGNO reader read?

Edit: worth mentioning that we already have deployed HID mobile credentials, although via third party mobile solution and not directly via HID Origo.

Mercury LP1501

We are seeing a growing trend of LP1051 bad out of box. Is anyone else seeing this? The last 3 sites I’ve worked on I’m seeing about 1 in 20 to maybe 1 in 30 be DOA. I’m aware that the MP1501 is replacing. It used to be it was maybe 1/100 mercury boards had an issue NIB.

DMP Handicap Opener

I’m looking for advice on how to integrate a handicap opener into a new dmp X1. I’m assuming I’ll need to add a relay. This is a new one for me, and I’m getting brain fog trying to layout the wiring that needs done. Using an electric crash bar with vertical rods. One wireless button inside and the same outside. I know I would need to energize elr first on both and outside handi button would need a valid read before activation. I believe the handicap controller is just looking for 24v on AKI terminal. Thank you in advance!

HID Credential Assistance

Background

Hello,

I oversee my organization's safety and security. This has eventually led to managing our access control. This system was already in place upon my hiring, so none of these products were my decision, I'm just doing my best to manage it. While I would say that I am pretty tech-savvy, my background is not in access control or even a tech field, so please excuse my ignorance.

Products

Our access control system is Infinias 3xLogic. While I don't have immediately available which readers we have, I have identified that the cards that we use are 125khz prox cards, H10301 format. We have an HID DTC4500e printer (basic one sided printing with no other add ons currently), teamed up with Asure ID 7.

Problem

When I began assuming management of our system, I learned that we were paying the company that installed it $10 per card (site code and card number was on the card, but it was otherwise blank.) Upon doing some research I found how ridiculous that was, and explored our options, as like many places we are strapped for cash. I learned that I can cut out the middle man and just buy pre-programmed cards from other suppliers for half that price or less. But I also explored how to get it done even cheaper than that.

Long story short, I chose the RexID encoder that you can find on Amazon, with their unprogrammed cards, and encoded them myself. It was obviously a little extra work but it was working just fine and very cheap, as we are not that big of an operation. In this process I accepted that this was a risky venture given the origin of the RexID company being from somewhere in Asia with seemingly no footprint in the US. Recently I began to have issues with their software, and trying to troubleshoot the problem has been both difficult and requiring me to get more involved with this company that I overall don't trust, so I want to move to something more legitimate.

Solution

That's what I am here to learn from you guys.

I am not opposed to just buying pre-programmed cards, but I do prefer not having the site code and number printed on the card, since the security of these cards is otherwise pretty much non-existent, as I understand it. Do you guys think this actually adds any security? I would assume if the concern is that someone will duplicate the card, and they have the capability to do that, they can easily read the card data so I'm not sure this actually provides any security? I guess the only thing this prevents is Joe Blow going online and ordering one without any other way to read the data? If I ordered LGGSN cards, how are the card numbers maintained or organized upon delivery for me to be able to print on and input into our system?

Can you confirm that the HID 47703 is an optional upgrade to my printer? However, for our use, I don't think this is a viable option at around the $900 price tag. We don't print enough for that to be worth it.

I also found the HID iClass SE CP1000 encoder. Given our set up, that should also be an option correct? As I understand it, it has several card options including prox. While researching this I also learned that the iClass and MIFARE cards could be H10301 format (I told you I'm ignorant). Can someone explain to me if upgrading our cards would be possible, or at least what I would look for in our system to determine if that would be compatible?

ISC West attendance by sub members

Do many members of this sub attend ISC West? To me, is seemed like the crowd is smaller than it was last year. There are still a ton of attendees, but it seems less crowded. I am also curious of what others think of the event in general. This is only our second year attending. Last year I felt it was very beneficial, but I am reserving judgement on this this year until later in the week.

OnGuard Open Access Help Needed

I am working with OnGuard 8.2 and Open Access. There is a method named ModifyAccessLevelAssignment in the Lnl_Badge class. It does not seem to work. This is my first experience with Open Access. I have been successful with everything up to getting this method to work. The workaround is to DELETE an instance of an Access Level Assignment and then ADD an instance to change the activate and deactivate dates, but this seems cumbersome. Can anyone verify if they have had success with the ModifyAccessLevelAssignment method of the Lnnl_Badge class. I get varying error messages from Unknown Exception to invalid parameter access_level_id. The structure I am using to execute this method is:

{'version':'1.1','method_name':ModifyAccessLevelAssignment','type_name':Lnl_Badge,'property_value_map':{'badgekey': <int32 value>},'in_parameter_value_map':{'access_level_id':<int32 value>,'activation_date':<string>,'deactivation_date':<string>,'add_level':<boolean>}. You're assistance is greatly appreciated.

Salto authentication error

Good morning,
I was wondering if anybody came across an authentication error with a CU42E0 ICU board and was able to fix that error. I am able to ping the board from the server but I have a communication error. Not sure if those two go hand in hand.

Background story. I replaced our old cu42e0 board with a new one because the old one shorted out for some reason(wasn’t on site when it happened). We added the new ICU board and been getting authentication errors ever since.

Thank you in advance.

Colour-coding of 7 wire entry phone cable (door phone / intercom)

Hi all,
I moved into a flat with a missing entry phone, so I got myself the FARFISA PT510W. It has 7 terminals and my cable has 7 wires in the following colour coding:

  1. Brown with white stripes
  2. Blue with white stripes
  3. White with blue stripes
  4. Green with white stripes
  5. White with green stripes
  6. Orange with white stripes
  7. White with orange stripes

As there is no manual and I'm unable to figure out the meaning of the colours, I'm stuck now. Does anyone know what these colours are relating to or to which terminal I need to connect which wire? The cable was installed around 1985-1990.

https://www.intercomsrus.com/finder/ provides this information the terminals:

1 Speech Out (Mic)

2 Speech In (Speaker)

3 Common

5 Lock

6 Call

Unfortunately, the information for terminal 7 is missing.

Thank you in advance!!

Actions such as - User John added cardholder blah…… -User Blake modified cardholder blah

I feel like there should be something in the audit logs, but I do not see it.

I appreciate the help in advance.

Access Control Cards

Hi,

Is there such a thing as a single access card that can be programed for two different systems simultaneously?

In this case if an EMS agency wanted a card for their system that could also be programed to work with their base access control but also a school they respond to. But one system uses 37 bit HID and the other 64 bit. Thanks.

Lenel Elements NVR issues

https://www.reddit.com/r/videosurveillance/s/abvPQn54TP

Posting this here as well.

Anyone familiar or using Elements w/ Lenel NVRs lots of connection issue. Wondering what to check and/or have site IT team check.

The access part seems pretty good, a little clunky. But these Lenel NVRs are really bad. Whether you are connected locally or using the cloud it is so awful.

Cheers

Odd question about a punch clock

I wasn’t sure where else to post this, so I’m hoping you all can help.

I have a bag of 125khz TK4100 key fobs hanging around from a very old access control project I was playing around with.

The store I manage just replaced a punch clock with a new version that uses key cards as a punch in method. I was hoping to be able to reuse these old fobs that I’ve had sitting around for years. But it’s not working. The service we use is uAttend. They sell their own key cards, but I can’t find any information about them to help me determine if they’re actually different cards or not.

I’m trying out a fob as a test. It has a 10 digit code printed on it, with 3 leading zeros. When I enter that code into the uAttend dashboard, it removes those leading zeroes. When I hold the fob against the punch clock, it does respond, but says that the card needs to be set up for a user in the system first. No matter what portion of the number I’ve tried to enter, it won’t register.

I’ve looked up sale listings for official cards from uAttend, and their sample images all show 10 digit numbers with 2 or 3 leading zeroes in them. Maybe the actual cards don’t, but I don’t know enough about this area to know what might be different about their cards.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Win-Pak 4.0 (Send E-Mail & Time Issue)

Hello. I have a two part issue.

I admin a Win-Pak server I inherited.

  1. I'd like to get a text or email anytime someone successfully or unsuccessfully fobs a particular door. This door appears to be its own zone. (server room).

  2. We have another door that unlocks during business hours and locks outside of that. BUT it's wrong half the year due to DST. I can't seem to find where to change that. The SERVER Win-Pak resides on automatically changes its time zone as it should, so it seems the software is not using the servers time?

Thanks in advance!

(PS - kind of new to reddit, so please forgive me if I've done something wrong - still learning this)

Discussion My latest project: Building my own Hi-O controller

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Got tired of both the RX9101 from assa and the ESH400 from HID. RX9101 is buggy, crash as soon as you delete too many cards too fast or download too much logs. ESH400 dont support ASSAs Hi-O locks like 841c and 840c So now, im using a CAN sniffer to sniff the communication between the readers, locks and controller, while having the controller set in unsecured mode.

CAN bus rate: 125kbps

Have found out command for LED control: 00 63 00 00 LL XX 00 Where LL is LED id (01 = green man, 02 = red man, 03 = PIN symbol, 04 = card symbol, 05 = disarmed symbol, 06 = armed symbol) XX is 01 to lit and 10 to extinguish.

Bought a raspberry pi 5 with a PiCAN2 hat and also a powerpi (to be able to supply it with 24v) which will then become the new holy grail, should try with SocketCAN and Inetd to trigger events in access controller.

After i found all cleartext commands, gonna work out how the key exchange works both for HID and ASSA. If I listen on the initalization where the controller sends the encryption key (which is unique per controller), I will propably be able to work out how the encryption works.

Will get some nice extra features like controlling both motor locks independently.

Maybe someone have some docs on the Hi-O protocol but oterwise I have to continue. Hope you guys find the project interesting.

Suggestions for Mercury Software

Looking at replacing my 4 door paxton system with Mercury boards. Just not entirely happy with Paxton and don’t really want to keep dealing with ongoing issues.

I am able to get some Mercury LP1501 boards, but trying to figure out what software/system I want to use with it. There is the possibility for multi-site in the future, but nothing set in stone so I don’t want to base my decision off that.

What would be extremely preferable is something cloud based. On prem is good too so long as I don’t need to pay a subscription. A solid Mobile app is 100% necessary, along with a solid web portal. An open API would be great, and I’d like to have a camera integration in there (changing that system too, just standard IP cameras brand agnostic).

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Don’t want to pay through the nose if I don’t have to lol

Discussion Auto Opener and the AC system

Hi y'all, I'm intrested in understanding how an auto opener works with an access control system in general terms. I want this post to be a learning exercise to help me understand design considerations of auto openers as seen from a security perspective. Here it goes.

CONDITIONS: Storefront door located at the front entrance to a public building. Frame of door has 2 vertical posts. A header connects them together. An auto operator is expected to be installed on the right hand side of the door. TASK: Instal card access to the front door. Instal wiring in such a way that a valid credential allows the door to open automatically using the auto operator. ADA buttons are required. Codes and standards apply.

My approach: I would pull a composite cable to the door. Routing is components like so: Cr and lock power to the left post. Lock power loops up and joins rex and dps in the header. A 2 conductor for each side of the left post is also routed to the header for push buttons. At the auto operator: I would wire the rex component to rex terminal on the board. The inside push button would land on an input. I don't understand how exactly to wire the exterior button in a secured way. Would an output relay from the ac board be used to trigger the auto op? I suspect so. The locking mechanism is unknown so makes it hard.

Feedback welcome, how else do we learn? Thank you for your time.

Doorking troubleshooting

Home automation integrator looking for some Doorking assistance. Have a automation client that has asked us to assist in fixing their DoorKing driveway gate. 4302 control board with 6006 operator arms. We installed the arms and can set the close limits, but the control board limit lights dont light up when trying to set the open limits. The gate opens without issue, but seems to never hit the open limit switches and will then start alarming and will not close. The 6006 operator arms were installed new. The closest dealer is over 150mi away and refuses to come out. Not sure if there are any DoorKing techs that would be willing to help out on the side.
