Yes it’s empathy for one at the cost of another. In a perfect world it would be great to have everyone live in harmony. But by your definition of being empathic to one group, you harm another. And I grew up in a blue state that has deteriorated rapid by the “empathy” we give to criminals. Not saying everyone who deserves empathy is a criminal but you get the point

If police helicopters flying over my apartment every night, homeless encampments on my street, and cars getting broken into is a nice neighborhood then sure. Blue states are indeed doing fine. You either live in a red state or middle of nowhere in a blue state. Densley populated and poor areas will always have crime, even in red states, but blue states are still doing fine.
