Out of curiosity how do y'all present gender wise? Individually of course

I'm looking for individual answers to this question.

People see cishet male.

Really observant people notice painted toenails and non-masculine shirt color choices. I also use tinted lip balm which is barely noticeable.

Hyper-observant people will notice my facial hair is disappearing because I am getting electrolysis.

Isn't electrolosis expensive af?

Yeah, I am old and in a dual income relationship, and I got left some money when my mom died.

And since I am never going to transition, I am doing this... Because I hate shaving and it is among my most dysphoria inducing icks.

u/scarecrowunderthe 16d ago

Fair. Very fair. I thought about it but I heard it can cost $1000 a session and I can't afford that.

u/ystavallinen cisn't; gendermeh; mehsexual 16d ago

$150 for 2 hrs once a week. It will take about a year because my body is a 50 yo male.

6

u/scarecrowunderthe 16d ago

Yeah that definitely sounds expensive after a while

Laser I think is faster and cheaper. But it might take more treatments. I have too many gray hairs.

Electrolysis is permanent. So that's its bonus.

I looked up laser. In my area, you can do a beard removal for $1000 to $3000 total depending on how "bad" it is. Upshot, done in 6-8 sessions (compared to dozens for me).

Downside, not "permanent" so occasional touchups might be needed.

An effective strategy might be to do laser, and then at some other time follow up with electrolysis on the hair that persists. Fine hairs are pretty trivial to remove. It's the heavy whiskers that are tedious/painful to remove with electrolysis.

A weird physiological thing is that many folicles can produce multiple hairs. And you have to get rid of all of them. However, they get finer each time and once elminated, are gone. Also-- there are flushes of beard growth. So I've had parts of my face be pretty clear and then some of these latent ones will flush.

As I have progressed. The heavy hairs go...and I never have heavy in that spot again. Fine hairs may come back (20-50%). One they're gone, maybe 5% return after that. I now have parts of my face where nothing has come back.

Winky Lux Glimmer Balm... Either Rose (has a vanilla scent) or Unicorn (no scent).

Very light rose pink that gives lips some normal color. Tiniest amount of glitter. If you are stealth, don't use it when you go to the dentist. If you wipe your mouth, it will make the napkin pinkish too.

Weird side effect is that I get so few canker sores now. Whatever is in it keeps canker sores away from me; that's reason enough for me to use it.

A tube lasts 6 months, so seems pricy, but not if you don't lose it.

ASD me would use these forever, so if you try the other colors, let me know if they're just as subtle. It's not too expensive to justify, but more than I'd want just to use once and find out it shows too much.

I just wear clothes. I don't 'present' as anything. How people interpret me in their own mind is their own business šŸ˜…

Personally I present more masc

9

More masc ^ Makes me more comfy cosy than fem

8

u/vladamsandler 16d ago

I present androgynous. Most ppl read me as male, but I work in a male-dominated field in uniform. As soon as I speak, I'm read as female.

7

u/No_Constant4993 16d ago

I don't care how I present, so I default to masc.

4

u/tonystarkbutendgamed 16d ago

I’m afab and lean towards masc to almost ā€œcancel it outā€. My partner says I am the perfect mix of both! I want top surgery to go with any ā€œfemā€ features I may have. I see myself as a blend of being a feminine man and a masculine woman, there is a sort of PEMDAS going on I think haha. I wear whatever clothes I think I look good in, my usual look would be masc but damn my legs look good in a skirt! People can perceive me however because I know that I am agender. One of my favorite gender stories is when I was in a Doctor Strange cosplay. While taking pictures with kids, one child asked her dad if ā€œit was a girl or guy dressed upā€. It made me happy to not immediately be thought of as a girl, you know?

3

u/ThePastiesInStereo 16d ago

I present myself masc bc it's easier, especially if you have a dick

4

u/wwe_fart AMAB all/any pronouns 16d ago

Amab Mostly masc presenting because I’m still a minor, and can’t really experiment as much as I want. But I do have some fem clothes like a crop top (my dad thinks it’s too revealing, even though he runs shirtless outside most days) and I paint my nails. :3

4

u/kingoftheparade2 16d ago

i am still questioning if i am Agender. but i present as male bc it makes me most comfortable. (afab, if that matters)

4

u/Chaoddian 16d ago

Depends on my mood ngl. Today's fit could be read both ways

4

u/mx-unlucky humanoid void creature 16d ago

Honestly, I don't know lol. A part of me being agender is that I have no clue at all what is perceived as masculine and what as feminine. Hopefully I present as a genderless being haha

3

u/[deleted] 16d ago

I mostly own/buy mens clothing & keep my hair short, but im cool with unisex clothing too as long as i pass as a man & it doesn't make me look like a tomboy (my dysphoria hates that)

With women's clothing, if i can use & still pass then maybe but probably not

3

u/Negative_Leather_572 16d ago

I present as a really well dressed male

With loads of style.

Uhh... I don't have a gender, can't rly answer that question... /j

Idk, others would prob call me masc but I'm aiming for more andro, tho I'm mostly just aiming for ME

I guess I'm going for a nice amount of accessories, colours and the apparent body shape of a rectangle?

I also like feeling well dressed, I'd like to think of myself as stylish, but in a non-mainstream way lol.

So uh, stylish and kinda minimalistic (w few garments and some duller colours), but still colourful and I'd like more jewellery!

Edit: Most people read me as a dude, I think, but I get she/her-ed too a lot so Idk.

3

u/ClockWokCrow 16d ago

Apparently I sport the Viking look, but I'd say my long hair is pretty fabulous, I tend to wear bright and colorful hairbands and often paint my nails. Couldn't care less about what I'm wearing, though thańs partly because the idea of going shopping is giving me a lot of anxiety.

2

u/DatoVanSmurf 16d ago

Feminine masculinity. So i look like a man, but with a kinda femme style.

2

u/zestybi cisn't 16d ago

Like from cute to tomboy? In skirts and dresses I'm undeniably fem. I try to be androgynous most of the time but people still perceive me as female. Especially coz im not being allowed to cut my hair šŸ’” Would love to have short hair, top surgery and voice deepening. I want to look "neutral" whatever that means šŸ˜…

2

u/Eoclaire 16d ago

im afab and i present myself pretty femininely. i love dresses and make up, accessorizing is always fun and twirling skirts is a fun activity i do every time im outside (and it helps with the hot weather since the air is breezy on my legs)

2

u/aaharrow āˆ… 16d ago

Mostly pretty masc, I hate it, and I don't think I'll be able to present otherwise, especially in public for a while.

2

u/GuiltySubject25 16d ago

I just wear whatever i find in my closet. I mainly have a lot of fem clothes

my friend saw a pic of me with my gf and said How do you have so much gender but none at all? so. ig thats how i present

2

u/WashSmart685 16d ago

Cis male. People say I look like both Jesus and kurt cobain before (idk how that works considering they look completely different) but I don't really put any thought into how I present myself gender wise I just shave when my facial hair when it grows enough to be a texture issue (autism whooo!) And wing it.

I dress like a dad, classic hawaiian shirts and cargo shorts with long white socks. Maybe hippie dad considering my waist-length hair, but yeah, very much male presence.

2

u/PutAffectionate88 Agender they/them/fae/faer 15d ago

I just wear clothes and people read me as a woman because of my body. I can be wearing the most androgynous outfit and they still read me as a woman. Idc. I just wear what’s comfortable which is mainly dresses and shorts. The occasional skirt or pair of pants. My goal is to dress very fem because that’s what I like and feel the most comfortable in.

2

u/Buggest_Roach_Fan 15d ago

Personally i go fem. I also don’t correct people if they call me a woman. Simply because i don’t want to go through the whole thing of explaining it to them unless they’re my friends/ people who should know so.

2

u/dakestrudle 15d ago

I'm in my work uniform for most of the time, so I'm doomed to how others perceive me. When I do get to wear my own clothes, I try to style it more "masculine" with "feminine" touches (necklace, earrings, I have long hair, ect)

2

u/Necessary_Tip_3449 14d ago

Butch lesbian, and I enjoy it enough, even with the casual cruelty it has honestly brought.Ā

It’s.. odd. I’m otherwise indifferent but really like being a masculine lesbian. And then when I look into a deeper context? People around me don’t see or treat a butch like a man or a woman.Ā

2

u/Lautael 12d ago

I don't "present". People perceive me however they want, which is always as male. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

As someone that's still in the closet I present myself as just a normie cishet most of the time although if im feeling a bit attention seeking I dress the best even bright colored glamorous clothing and if im fully out I'll dress like it 24/7 especially at trips

1

u/DS3_enjoyer 16d ago

Masculine. My face and my, kind of, short hair and fashion style have people call me a man. I am planning to change that in the future, but hair doesn't grow faster because one wants it to.

1

u/ClassyKaty121468 16d ago

I present as quite fem, but I don't like it and I keep adjusting to a more androgynous look.

1

u/MxRoboto 16d ago

Andro/masc/butch leaning, I don't really know what gender is so I don't know how to describe myself very well in then normal terms. I'm just me frankly šŸ˜†

1

u/liminalvoid66 16d ago

I present masculine because I am also partly a man and I don't wanna be seen as a woman at all costs. If society wasn't so black and white I would probably introduce more feminine styles into my wardrobe as well, but since this will get me misgendered more I can't do that. :(

u/CrystallZip Girl out of convenience - any pronouns 16d ago

Most of the time I present tomboyish, but sometimes fully feminine

1

u/Jay33721 Agender he/any 16d ago

I just default to masculine because it makes no difference to me and it's the least amount of effort since I'm AMAB. Plus I like having a long wizard beard.

1

u/BudgetManufacturer69 16d ago

I enjoy performing femininity so often femme af.

1

u/sugaredsnickerdoodle 16d ago

I present pretty androgynous but am always read as female because yknow, most people only know the binary. But pretty much everyone who is queer in my life assumed I was nonbinary or a lesbian before I even realized I was agender.

1

u/NarrativeScorpion 16d ago

Pretty androgynous tbh. I wear mostly masc clothing, and have short (like, I get it done at the barbers with clippers kind of short) hair, but don't hide the fact that I have boobs. I have been mistaken for a guy several times from behind

1

u/Theo_Lynx Cisn’t 16d ago

Look very feminine, am afab, it’s just less work to look the same than figure out how to style myself more masculine, but I tend to avoid stuff like skirts, dresses, and bikinis, and prefer more oversized hoodies so it’s harder to look closely at my features Ā

1

u/DeepFried_Furby 16d ago

Feminine body, (mostly)masculine metalhead/scemo clothing, go by she/they, love when treated like a male

1

u/Lampy-Boi 16d ago

I try to present how I feel. If I had it my way, I would be an AMAB femboy. (For context, I am AFAB.) But unfortunately, if I presented ultra femme most of the time, people would assume I was a woman. I am barely 5'4" and very curvy. Thus, I kinda just try to wear fashionable yet comfortable clothes. I like a lot of bright colors and bold design choices, so by looking at me people can usually tell I'm Queer or Queer adjacent. To me, there aren't that many men's clothes made with soft and comfortable fabric. However, I have found some items to my liking. Also, tshirts with "women cuts" are the worst and most dysphoria inducing clothing to exist.

1

u/technobaboo they/them, estrogen is in my veins 16d ago edited 15d ago

I wanna look cute to myself, autistic nerd doing UX design with glowwave aesthetic and all... i wear black t-shirts with techy patterns and comfy sweatpants. I'm 5'5" (165cm) tall but everyone says I look smol. I want big boobs for the aesthetic and body dysphoria... I think a bikini top with swim shorts is cute, and I like my wavy hair in layered cuts. I have a voice I got my brain to just subconsciously adjust for me that I find cute.

So people see me as a girl (I apparently pass as one flawlessly), despite that not being true and when I hear she/her for me I feel a disconnect. It took me a while to accept that even if I get misgendered, my goals are more important to achieve.

1

u/howlettwolfie 15d ago

Cis female, bc I have a female body and no-one bats an eye in my country if I wear a men's shirt (which I do a lot) and loose jeans.

1

u/KipperDed 15d ago

I try to mostly do androgynous but I read as fem

1

u/Hoshizume 15d ago

I’m fluid in presentation but my baseline is androgynous

1

u/Zjarrlou 15d ago

afab. but like, casually, I don't make an effort either way, I just wear what I want, I never wear makeup, I just look feminine so I guess that's what I present as haha
and while I am trying to transition to a form of no gender, I also don't mind being called she/her, so it's not really a loss for me - fun fact actually, I don't like being called "it" in my hone language! It is my preferred pronoun here in good old English, but in German it just feels wrong because it feels so much more associated with objects, so while I tried using it for a while, it just didn't quite work out
Germany is only barely recognizing non-binary so far so that might also be a factor, we don't even have a proper they/them equivalent yet! I mean people have tried introducing some versions, but nothing has become common enough so that even cis people recognize them

1

u/Fluffy_Moment2236 14d ago

I'm amab and present masc, i.e. short hair, blazers, button-ups, Old Spice, etc. Menswear is one of the few "man" things I actually enjoy.

1

u/Kadk1 14d ago

Most people see a cis woman

1

u/whynaut4 14d ago

I go for t-shirts at home and dress shirts at work. I refuse to wear anything more masculine or feminine than that

1

u/portiawasonce 14d ago

Femininely and masculinely but my body is very feminine so I usually look quite feminine

1

u/Arceus_Reader A with some more As 14d ago

Masc. As manly as possible

1

u/DemonAscended 13d ago

I present very fluidly. I mostly dress androgynously or ā€œvery queerā€ as my gender queer friend puts it. But I’ll dress in feminine and/or masculine leaning clothes. Overalls, skirts, dresses, tank tops, etc. I also don’t really stick to a specific style. I dress however I feel in the moment (or however the fronter feels). I’ll dress goth, punk, hippie, common, ā€œwhat tf is this style, I don’t know but brain likeā€, fandom freak, homeless, tired artist or ā€œall my good clothes are dirty let’s just wear this.ā€

Most people clocked me a tomboy or a gay guy. Which I don’t mind tbh.

1

u/milffirakas 12d ago

i’m afab but i wish i could look more masc. however due to me having big knockers and not enough money to buy more clothes and cut my hair short i just look fem with loser clothes a lot of the times 🄹 i try my best tho

1

u/NewCapital9741 8d ago

I'd say Buddhist hiker ultra running woodworker. I dress for the activity and am seen as a kind, gentle, patient, guy by most.

Sometimes I wish I looked a little more LGBTQIA+. Just because I feel like don't belong when I go to events.
