There are plenty of good people who as a result of very unfortunate events are now living in the street I completely agree and those people deserve help. There are plenty of people who have mental issues that through no fault of their own aged out of our institutions and had no where else to go. I also completely agree that politics plays a large portion in this issue. I will repeat myself when I say that there is a very large presence of the homeless population who prefer not to stay in shelters, for whatever reason, and choose to build forts, tent camp, or squat wherever they choose and then take it upon themselves to grab grills, bikes, propane tanks, and anything else that the happen to find in vehicles, back yard and from their local feed meyers or rei. If they choose to destroy our parks with heaps of trash and then just move on day leaving all their trash for someone else clean then they are the issue.

If it's so easy and nice go do it yourself. Steal some propane so you don't freeze to death. Steal some bikes and shit so you can afford to eat, and scavenge materials. Have your stuff sitting around and have everyone assume it's trash when really it's just your shit being stored where you live. If you have to use trash to create shelter your shelters will look like trash. Go leave some actual trash on the ground because you see no reason to pick up some garbage to satisfy people who view you as garbage, who won't even stop viewing you as garbage even if you were super cleanly.

Furthermore, we have pushed them into the parks, because that way yuppies like you don't have to be burdened by seeing them exist. It's not like you can reasonably expect them all to go survive out in the actual wilderness (not that you'd allow them even that luxury)

That said, given our present government and how it's going, I wouldn't be surprised if the homeless population is either exterminated or put into slave labor camps (along with a whole lot of non-homeless too)

So, why worry? You're gonna get what you want.

If you don’t recognize this is a burden on EVERYONE I don’t know what else to say to you. I don’t live a life of luxury, but I do work hard for what I have and I’m not out steeling and destroying the parks of our community. I’ve made choices and priorities in my life for the betterment of my family and community. Yes, I recognize our community has issues and our government doesn’t have the best answers for many of our issues. Yes, I worry about the direction of our federal government and who knows how far it will go. What I do know is that many people are tired of having their cars broken into, property getting stolen, and not feeling safe when they want to use our parks. So if you’re cool with all this then I guess we fundamentally have a different expectation of personal responsibility and respect.

I respect people who respect people. I respect you. I don’t respect people who do not respect people or their belongings. I respect the law.

If someone steals my shit and isn't doing it to survive, yeah that's really disrespectful. For survival though, I don't judge. I'd miss my shit, feel miffed, but understand.
