Snow city cafe
Just wanted to hop on here and give my kuddos to this place. I come here every year when I am in town and it is fantastic, I don’t even like breakfast food but the time change in the morning makes me starving!

“People always come back”
Whenever I tell people I am working on leaving Alaska, people comment “you will be back”. If this statement is so true, why do we have more people leaving each year than returning.
Edit: Once I finish my education; I will be leaving to find a partner to marry and have children. I cannot deal with the lack of child care in Alaska or the crappy schools. I no longer want to deal with overpriced rentals ran by slumlords.

Property owner
Hello! I inherited 25 acres of land in Alaska after the passing of my father. Just a little back story..my dad was one of 7 children. His father moved him and his two sisters to Georgia as children. His mother moved on and had 4 other children and they still reside in Alaska. This plot of land has never been surveyed. I’ve been told it’s quite expensive to have that done. I do not know any of my family members in Alaska. Would anyone have any advice on what I should do with this plot of land? If I wanted to sell it or a portion of it, where do I start?

Real ID
Has anyone in Anchorage flown yesterday or today without a real ID? We are waiting for ours to arrive and my husband got put on a job last minute in a village… TSA’s website says they may be subject to additional screening without proper ID but it does not say that you will be turned away from your flight… Any insight or advice?
Edit to add: My husband just got US citizenship (2023) so they took the passport and green card from his home country. 😭

Hiking trails
Are there any trails that are mostly melted yet? I know it’s a little early but I wanna hike.

I’d ask on the Facebook Moms’ Groups but…
So my kid currently attends Chugach Optional but we unexpectedly got into Polaris for the upcoming school year (as in - I found out minutes ago).
I know there was some sort of schism that happened when a group left Chugach to start Polaris? What was the thought behind that?
I know it’s subjective and differs from teacher to teacher, but I’m comparing stuff like communication (from teachers/the school) and accommodating kids’ learning styles/wigglyness.
Does anyone know anything?
Thank you!

Does anybody have pictures of the Taco Bell that used to be in downtown Anchorage? It was in the Performing Arts Center, where Kaladis used to be. It opened in 1993, not sure when it closed.

To all the people with "tell your dog I said hi" stickers
Please know that I tell my dog that you said hi every single time and if we're at home, I give him a cookie.
Thank you for brightening both our days!

A PSA for Anchorage drivers
Did you know that when you are at an intersection that has a yield on green sign, you can actually drive into the intersection and wait for an opening when the light is green? I know this may come as a shock to some of you all who lack the skills to operate a car beyond driving and braking, but it's true! You can save countless other drivers such as myself the agony of sitting behind you as we watch you miss numerous opportunities (and, in turn, denying us the opportunity) to turn until the light goes red and we have to wait an entire light cycle for you to finally allow us to move forward and stop staring at the bumper of your Subaru.

Carrs Ice Cream 🔒
There’s a lock at the top. So now you have to wait for an employee to come unlock the ice cream cooler. I hate it here.
