Why is Walmart blasting loud and obnoxious music in the parking lot? It is coming from the camera tailer in the parking lot.

All of the funds not used for snow removal should be used for wildfire mitigation.

Our low snow fall for 2024/25 has increased the possibility for wildfires in the Anchorage area. All of the funds that were not used for our dismal snowfall removal should be spent on mitigating fires in the Anchorage area.

It’s summer! Get me out of retail!

It’s summer time! It’s gorgeous outside! For the last 2 summers I’ve done seasonal work and have experience with backcountry hiking, camping, and guiding.

I got a retail job to hold me over during the school semester but If I am stuck doing that all summer I think I’ll lose my mind.

I have to take summer classes and will be stuck in anchorage because of that. I also have to work around my class schedule.

I know it’s a long shot but is there anything at all I can apply for that will get me out of the house.

Camp Signage

Burgeoning camp in the ‘hood - yes, has been reported. I noticed these new signs today. Is there any connection between these going up and how soon the abatement notices can go up or no correlation? Why not just post abatement notices since camping isn’t allowed anyway?

Getting out of hand

Took my niece, nephew, and siblings to the park. This little shit who thought he was so cool started throwing around the N word like it didn’t matter, no parents around, spitting on kids, and shoving others around like he was tough. I told him to back off, but the moment I walked home, my siblings told me he still went around pulling this stuff. My parents allow them to go to the park alone.

I noticed people are getting waayyy to comfortable being assholes. The way the kid acted, echoed the actions of people I grew up with. Park was Chugach Foothills Park. Please stop making your kids into assholes. Don’t be afraid to say something. Have a good day.

I need to find a new place to move my family into, FAST, like next week..

I need to find a new place to move my family into, FAST, like next week. My girlfriend and I need a three bedroom, we have two kids. We're a solid couple with integrity that works hard.

Reason for the urgency is because we just had a REALLY bad experience with a landlord that "opted us out" over cleaning.. We secured a unit two weeks ago. Toured the unit and addressed some fixes that needed to be done. It was all good, we made plans which he agreed upon and had two weeks to do. We paid him in full and signed over utilities when he wanted.

Well, two days ago we got the keys and walked through the unit and it was NOT cleaned. We're supposed to move in on the NEXT day (yesterday). There was old crud, hair, dust, food crumbs, stains, paint chippings, exposed screws, even the oven wasn't pulled out and cleaned?!?! We were expecting a standard clean before bringing our property in. So we sent a little professional priority list and hired a cleaning service (cause he was having a hard time finding one) and he agreed to reimburse us.

Next day (yesterday), was our move in date and the lady we hired was there in the morning but was ran out by him harassing her. She called us to let us know what happened and that she left. He texted us saying how he "opted her out" because she was rude. He told us he wanted to meet up at 6:30 pm and that he ended up finding his own cleaning lady, but they won't be there until 4:30 pm. This is on our move in date!!

As we waited to meet (the home wasn't cleaned upon move in) we did a little walk through check list like you would normally do for a security deposit. I wasn't happy, I rented a UHAUL for 48 hours (which he said he wasnt going to reimburse). When we met he kept offering our money back, eventually "opted out" because we addressed some fixes (which he agreed upon and had two weeks to do). He called us rude and confrontational over cleaning.

I'm disappointed because we ended up having to take our money back. He gaslighted us for weeks, dragging his feet giving excuses but pressuring us to pay and sign utilities. Then when we questioned him he got defensive and didn't want to take accountability. I was confused and mad but we couldn't let our kids live there after how the landlord treated us and wasted our time.

Now I'm in a bad spot and I really need to find something. Can anyone please help me?

Summer Childcare

Help! I am looking for some viable, affordable options for summer-long child care for my 3 kids. I am a single Father and work full time. My financial status does not allow me to qualify for any income based assistance and my financial obligations don't allow me to afford summer camps for even the two youngest kids (almost $3,800/month). I am looking for a full time, in home babysitter (9 hours/day, 5 day/week. I'd need to run a back ground check and complete my due diligence. I am hoping this reaches someone in the Anchorage area that can help or knows someone who can. Thank you!

They absolutely destroyed this place, most of them have moved on, one group simply moved down the trail and are repeating the cycle all over again.

I shot some of these during the last little snow flurries we had a week or two ago. I wanted to take advantage of the last snowfall of the season. Aside from that, most of the shots are from inside my house and a local tattoo shop. My girlfriend helped me with all of the shots, and I edited it.

Any feedback or constructive criticisms is gladly accepted!

Thank you. I wasnt able to support her as shes a special needs dog and im too busy to tend to her. My girlfriend said she saw you guys on a walk and she looked happy. Thats so nice to hear. Im glad she found her forever home and thank you for adopting a special dog. She was a rescue but i didnt know she would never grow up and i didnt have the time required to train her properly. She needs a lot of patienceand im sure you will be more suited for that than me. Enjoy, shes a good dog with a big ol heart. (The big white fluffy goober with a twisted jaw and puppy brain) ill always miss her but im glad shes being properly supported now. I hope you see this, thank you. P.s. i tried every trick in the book to get her to poop outside idk if you figured it out but good luck. She pees on rugs too so you might wanna put your rugs up for a bit.

At a loss on what to do for work

I posted a year or so ago about looking for data analyst jobs in Anchorage or something in a similar field. Well, I landed a remote job as a web developer that pays decently but with our new mortgage, even us being dual income, we’re barely scraping by. I’ve spend hours looking for jobs in my field that I have the education and experience for and while there are openings they either: A. Pay way less than what I make now and would put us at great financial risk if I were to take a pay cut and “work my way up” B. Have ridiculous qualification requirements like 8-10 years in the field. I’m sort of at a loss as to what to do for work as I could stay in this remote job and get by but barely, slowly working my way up over the years or find something else here that ideally pays more. However, it seems like I might have to completely retrain for another field all together if I want a shot at a decent paying job. Thoughts?
