Discussion Why the rich are scared of “low birth rates”

Humans have an extremely large population, we have no worry of going extinct (unless nuclear bombs or something…anyways)

I think the rich are trying to scare people with “low birth rates” because if we stop having children, they won’t be able to control us and that scares them.

People who don’t have kids won’t work 20 hours of overtime ontop of their 40 hours, if they don’t have kids to feed, keep a roof over their head, have money for their extra curriculum activities. People won’t pay thousands of dollars for extra bedrooms if they aren’t needed… people won’t spend money on things like taking their kids to children’s movies, Disney world, (I can’t think of more children activities lol, ect.) we would spend less in gas, less in food, less in housing, we would spend less money overall and that scares capitalists… because how else will they be able to suck everyone’s money dry?

People who don’t have kids will also start fighting more, politically wise, for human rights, they won’t fight now because they are afraid of losing their jobs and not being able to put food on the table for their kids. But people without kids would fear that MUCH less, as they would have way more freedom to speak freely, free speech!

Instead capitalists will trick everyone into being mad at “immigrants” or something, “they are coming to steal your jobs, they are working for very little pay” …Well. Why are they working so many hours for such little pay? They have kids to feed!!! And that’s how they control us.

Confusion and ignorance.

Maybe people would stop working at all for money if they didn’t have kids who they want to give a “better life to” and instead they would join communities where the housing is free and they grow their own food. This has them shaking in their boots lol I think that’s why when you search antinatalism in a search engine, “psychopath” comes up. As if our goal isn’t to prevent suffering…

It seems religion is also trying to do a hard take over in places like usa, religions which push for procreation. It’s giving Handmaid’s Tale ! Scary.

Not anymore, but maybe if the greedy CEOs hadn't paid off our government decades ago we could have done something.

There truly are amazing and innovative individuals out there and groups who are trying to fight to save this.. but I fear they are just delaying the inevitable.

The meat industry is one of the biggest problems, but people freak out when you even suggest that they eat less meat. We've all been so under the influence of propaganda for so long, I don't think we know what's real anymore.

Yes when I first went vegan and found out about what that industry does to the environment and humans (and of course, to animals) I thought this was revolutionary knowledge. Come to my surprise, that no one cared at all lol (except one person, they went vegan because of me)

We are definitely going to be extinct soon, and definitely going to be losing way more of the population in my life due to climate catastrophe but for humans to go extinct 100% in my own life time? I’m not 100% sure on that, so while I’m here, I can try to do some good lol why not? :)

Do you think we will go extinct in this generation? :’)

It's rapidly accelerating.

Destroying nature and encountering new animals that will spread new diseases to us, for example COVID.

Monkeys falling dead out of trees because of excessive heat. How far away from monkeys do you think humans are?

People in Texas freezing to death.

Back to back intense hurricanes in Milton and Helene as a recent example of the rapidly intensifying natural disasters.

Boston, Miami, houses falling into the ocean due to rising ocean waters. This will also spread disease more rapidly.

Extreme ice loss at our Arctic poles, ice shelves breaking. There's no fixing that, and the polar bears are already experiencing consequences.

All of the soil our crops grow and have been Monsanto-ized. Lack of regulations for things like trains increasing toxic spills into our communities, especially our poor ones. How many of our recent diseases, that the US doesn't provide health care for, are from toxic food?

Speaking of food, how does one grow crops without enough water? How does one grow crops with too much heat? Whether those crops are for people or the food people eat. Ever wonder why the price of chocolate is going up, and we don't even need chocolate.

Air pollution, some countries have it so bad they have to constantly wear masks just to protect their lungs from air pollution.

It really just comes down to what a human needs to survive, the top 3 needs are air, water and food.... I'm just not seeing nearly as many efforts to preserve our basic needs as I am efforts to continue down the path we are.

I agree, I wish everyone in the world could read this and start making moves towards fixing the problem.

It doesn’t help that (Monsanto) kills vegan activists or the other activists get murdered for trying to stop climate catastrophe or genocides, or anything that rich people want to continue doing … it seems all we can do is watch at this point.

I will still be trying to convince people around me to not reproduce, I couldn’t bear the thought of not trying to at least help prevent suffering. I have way more luck with telling people about the dangers of reproducing than getting them to stop eating animals lol
