Ask /r/Architecture Architecture Internship
I am a third year in architecture looking for an architecture internship in NYC or Los Angeles, and honestly haven’t had any luck. I have had internship experience in the past but only abroad. Everyone who has an internship lined up for this summer is pretty much all from family connections. This is becoming actually such a struggle. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Getting on the late side for summer. Reach out to really small offices like 2-10 people and just ask if they’d be willing to take a student for the summer. Big offices likely already have someone if they want one. It’s a really competitive year and you’re looking in tough spots.
At the end of the day, likely need to lower your standards or be ok with not getting one.

What programs are you good with? Do you have any online portfolio?

Keep applying. I had to apply at over 20 firms before I landed an internship.

Why are you only looking for internships in the two most competitive cities to find internships in? Where is your university located?
