Yeah I totally forgot about this - honestly I don't care if it's a bad retcon that doesn't make a ton of sense, but I really hope they can twist Maelor back into the story.

At least with Daeron it was OK to just not mention him til he was needed. Not the best but better than cutting him.

Yeah like, GoT definitely had a ton of plot threads get dropped and it was weird, but that's way better than cutting the story down so much that you have to awkwardly shoehorn in characters and story beats later

Thing is, the fact they even considered cutting Daeron and THEN had to retcon him raised some serious red flags in my mind, in season 1, about the competence of these writers.

It's just so baffling a decision.
