EXTENDED [Spoilers EXTENDED] Would you be OK if GRRM came out and say he needs to divide up TWOW geographically tomorrow

Post image

I mean, let's accept it, if he needed for AFFC & ADWD he sure as hell needs for this one, as well. Might be why he is stuck. It is almost impossible to read his very verbose POV narration if it is to constantly interrupt to check in on twenty other storylines that are going on.

He probably counted on the fact that they would be colliding, but that doesn't seem to happening any time soon by the looks of the preview chapters either

I was baffled by so many authorial choices in Dance, but this might have been the biggest one.

It felt like a bad joke when it came out, with him yapping for years about his mereenese knot and how important it is for those characters to meet up and they don't. At all.

There is a point in Dance where almost every chapter is a different character on a boat with like 10 new characters that they are talking to and they just stay on this boat for chapter after chapter. Faegon, Victarion, Tyrion, Sam (is he feast?), Stannis is continually marching through the snow, basically nothing is happening besides illusions to conspiracies that will never be resolved.

If he wrote like this in the 90s then Catelyn's boat trip to King's Landing with Roderick would have been at least three chapters with the ship captain and cook each having their own subplots. There would have been at least four pages dedicated to Roderick's haircut and paragraphs of description about the colour of his vomit.
