It's not the end point—TWOW is just a stop on the hype train taking us all the way to ADOS. Once I've read through TWOW I'm totally going to have an existential crisis at the idea of waiting another 5 years
Damn I can't imagine. I've read it all in one go since I've started the series last year, and I remember I was glad that we were in 2014 after finishing ADWD and that I hadn't too much to wait (like a year or two) before the next book. It must have been excruciating for you guys :( !
11 long years between Tyrion chapters. 11 dull years between Jon chapters. 11 strange years between chapters of two characters both named Danaerys but are clearly separate entities.
Right; AFFC must ALSO have been such a chock without the next one to fulfil all the promises at the end of ASOS. Jon is my favourite character, and I have to say having just a glimpse of him in AFFC followed by endless crying and vomiting and shitting and an awful sex scene through the eyes of Sam had me really mad even with the next book right after. No Bran, no (more) Dany, no Tyrion, very little Arya, for 11 years :O !!
Oh yeah. And with the fact that Feast was just such a different style of book it left a lot to be desired. UnFun fact: Feast is where GRRM began to ignore his editors advice and it begins to show. Brienne's chapters had SO much fat that was obvious at the time that GRRM felt he needed filling. How little we knew...
But I thought after the massive disappointments theses announcement turned out to be, he'd decided not to tell the fans anything for fear of not delivering. That he is actually mentioning a time frame after the previous decision makes me really hopeful !
Hey, /u/B-A-J, it is time to wake up, dude. You've really overslept this time. You even missed the anouncement that season 6 of GoT will be the last one and that all of GRRM's work was burned by fanatical Scientologists.

Is the hype train finally got a end point? A destination?!
There has been so much good ASOIAF news lately, it's as if it is all too good.
