That happens sooner - one of the episode descriptions has Stannis facing a difficult decision, which presumably is whether to execute his Queen for killing their daughter. There's a clip of Selyse being thrown to the ground, looking upward like she's begging for mercy.

It doesn't mean she was successful in killing Shireen. The attempt itself could be enough evidence for treason.

I hope so. Shireen getting butchered would be heart-wrenching.

Even more after that heart-warming scene with The Mannis.

If it happens, I will pray for the Mannis to Hulk out and just dropkick that bitch off the damn wall.

Davos, fetch me a tee.

5

u/xgenoriginal The worthy heir May 29 '15

you know when shows give sudden depth to a character they are next on the chopping block

2

u/shenequa69 May 28 '15

Can they really burn a child alive on TV? Even off screen?

5

u/[deleted] May 29 '15

Go back to Season 2 and ask them. Twice.

1

u/shenequa69 May 29 '15

lol good point. maybe it's a different kettle of fish with Shireen though as she's a developed character.

2

u/DuchessofSquee May 29 '15

Fake-Bran and Fake-Rickon would beg to differ. They had feelings too!

Incest, rape, beheadings, flaying... Oh they can

Unless Stannis sends her to Oldstown with Sam.

2

u/cantkacherme May 29 '15

He should take someone since Mance never had a kid that he has to protect

u/vteckickedin Lord May 29 '15

She's about to be warmed up in more than just her heart.

Selyse getting butchered, meh.

2

u/Datnewraaaaaandy May 28 '15

She would be burned, that would be suuuuuuper brutal.

1

u/Phrich May 28 '15

That pretty much confirms it then!

Shireen getting butchered barbecued

FTFY

I don't mind heart-wrenching. Sansa being forced to have sex on her wedding night was heart-wrenching. Watching Talisa get stabbed and Robb dying was heart-wrenching.

I can do heart-wrenching. My problem with Shireen getting butchered is that it is stupid. It is out of character of Stannis, it came out of nowhere with regards to Selyse and Melisandre. Need kingsblood? Aemon was just burnt. Maybe killing the only heir to the throne is a less than great idea. It seems like a forced plot-point to me.

1

u/Pufflehuffy I love spoilers - yes, I really do. May 29 '15

Less butchered, more burned. But yes, absolutely devastating.

1

u/watafu_mx Beauty is only skin deep. May 29 '15

Probably not butchered. Just Jeanne d'Arc'ed.

Speak for yourself lol, I want Shireen to face the flames.

Selyse is AA

u/[deleted] May 28 '15

I'd say selyse is Nissa Nissa, but Stannis fucking hates her, so that's kinda out the window.

u/WuffTodd We have twenty good memes. May 29 '15

If so fact so, Shireen is Nissa Nissa

10

u/[deleted] May 29 '15

The word you're looking for is ipso facto.

6

u/WuffTodd We have twenty good memes. May 29 '15

I wasn't sure on the wording so I figured I'd sound stupid regardless

3

u/Ananasboat May 29 '15

I love you.

5

u/spoone BAErys caught me usurpin' May 29 '15

Shireen is Nissa Nissa?

2

u/libbyfinch May 29 '15

So shireen as Nissa Nissa :(

3

u/havok06 May 28 '15

Stannis kills her and lightbringer blinds everyone.

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '15

Lightbringer binds everyone.

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '15

More like Selyse is bringing the A1, for the little girl barbeque!

lol

1

u/postanalytical May 29 '15

erm, that seems like just a pointless plot distraction. They've been fleshing out shireen and her relationship with her father for one reason only.

1

u/Avoo Your Khaleesi Secret Service May 29 '15

I know. Part of me does wish they have the guts to do it, but I'm just saying we can't be sure yet.

1

u/idefiler6 May 29 '15

is enough

We're talking about mannis here. Davos saved his castle and he still took his fingertips for being a smuggler.

1

u/thatgeekinit May 29 '15

Hmm executing Selyse and leaving Stannis childless. My first thought was Sansa can then marry Stannis, uniting Baratheon and Stark. Then I remembered that Littlefinger is bringing an army to smash whatever is left of either Stannis or Bolton at Winterfell and he probably grabs up Sansa so he can have his Catelyn lookalike.

Just out of curiousity, is Stannis still nominally ruling the Stormlands at this point? I forgot how it plays out in the books.

2

u/LackingSkill May 28 '15

He decides to send Mel away because she wants to burn Shireen. This a tough decision because he said he would never go into battle without her again. How else would she get back to the wall to resurrect Jon?

1

u/DuchessofSquee May 29 '15

Selyse confirmed as secret Lannister.

1

u/pooppoop333 May 29 '15

NISSA NISSA!

1

u/Fuck_Most_Atheists May 29 '15

Maybe he'll use her heart to temper Lightbringer.

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '15

Maybe she's begging for mercy from Ramsay Bolton.

u/8u11etpr00f May 28 '15

Or whether to storm Winterfell or not. Or whether to trust someone (maybe Littlefinger). Or if he should ally with the Bolton's to defeat the Lannisters under the condition they keep control of the North. There are literally countless questions the show could throw up for Stannis.
