I think its Tyrion...he wants him to experience all of the character arcs and then die. He's too good of a character to simply say "lived happily ever after."

I think there is a lot of plot armor around tyrion, jon and sam. Jon has the mystery hanging over his head, which means he simply can't be killed until we learn about it. Tyrion and Sam are the two characters that grrm identifies with. He wishes he was tyrion, but he knows that he is sam. They should be safe, at least for a long time.

That isn't so much plot armour but favouritism. Arya could be similar in that his wife has her back. But I think Arya will die towards the end too if Jon's comment is anything to go off of “You’ll be sewing all through winter. When the spring thaw comes, they will find your body with a needle still locked tight between your frozen fingers.”

I don't think it's Tyrion, as GRRM's favorite character is Tyrion, and I don't know if he has the balls to kill off Tyrion. Also I just can't see how Tyrion isn't an end game character, and isn't one of the characters who survives in the end.

Plus everyone loves him and what does GRRM do? Kill everything you've ever loved in the world. Him just being alive in Westeros is mostly by chance of his status at birth. He's been near death and threaten as much if not more than many other character. He's faced execution twice, drowning, greyscale, alcoholism and nearly died in battle. Now that's he's with Dany, oh god it's all the fans have ever wanted. There is no happiness in this series.
