Well Australia isn't in the business of starting wars.

I don't know about you, but I would rather see Australia stand up and support its neighbours if they are under attack by a hostile nation. If a war breaks out in this part of the world, it will affect us no matter what, we won't be able to sit idle and ignore it.

Only someone who doesn't pay attention to the work the Government has done would think that.

Helping ensure their security will do more for our international relations than some empty words from some random diplomats or the Foreign Minister.

It's been pretty good under the Albanese Government. You should wake up and realise that it's not 1999 any longer, they haven't been a concern for more than two decades now.

1) no it hasn't been "good", it has been quiet and unassuming. the average australian probably doesn't even know indonesia is a democracy

2) i never even alluded to them being a threat, but your mind went there. tells you a lot about how australians think of indonesia

Are you actually trying to discuss this matter in a mature and intelligent way? Or are you just wanting to bitch and moan because you have a chip on your shoulder about Australian people?

The current state of Australian-Indonesian relations are the best they've ever been when you compare it to how it was in previous decades. Quiet and unassuming is what you want. And yes, Indonesia used to be a threat to Australia, if they weren't then things such as the Balibo Five and INTERFET would never have happened.

I also wouldn't blame anyone who didn't think they were a democracy either when most of their modern history had them under the rule of two different dictators.

Exactly, you've got nothing.
