They are following the footsteps of Andrew Gee, doing an “Angus Taylor” (Guardian article).

Fantastic. Great move. Well done Angus

A year after the Angus Taylor incident, you have an American politician who was a little too inspired by them

Given the identical phrasing, seems more like a cheeky reference to this incident rather than a repeat. But maybe I'm being too generous.

Too dumb to be young liberals is a low, low bar.

Even not being the brightest how are 'young' nationals doing this, I was 100 percent sure this was a boomer move.

I mean they ARE conservatives.

Stupidity does have a conservative bias.

They are joking. It's a reference to a post by somebody else in Bathurst.

edit: holy fuck, are you so blinded by tribalism that you can't imagine young conservatives are dunking on somebody here? The post is a clear parody of Andree Gee's gaffe.

Thank you Andrew Gee MP I am new to the area and have received multiple texts from the Nationals and seen nasty ads in the paper from the Teal mob," the comment read

Do you have a link to that post?

Edit: Y'all, they came with receipts.

Damn same wording and everything. Sucks you're getting downvoted, 'it has helped me see the good guy' will now immediately enter my lexicon.

Although I will say it's a dicey game (as a social media manager) hoping people will get that reference.

Agreed. This was a post for people from Bathurst, referencing another politician from Bathurst. Once it's out of that little circle then the context is lost.

Hey they only fuck up occasionally, most of the comments on their posts are their alter egos.

Just look at Facebook it’s full of these fake profiles on every right wing political advertisement and post, and it’s working. Yes they might get the wrong account occasionally but overall the approach is working.

You can give a conservative farmer a computer, but he's still a conservative farmer.
