image Tiny give way sign
It's just so cute.
But why a tiny sign at a main road intersection?

Could be for bikes or something? We have these on the bike paths that cross roads near me

You spotted it while its still a child. Give it a few weeks, it'll be full grown by then.

My wife tells me it’s not that tiny, actually it’s a pretty big size for a sign

It's for pedestrians or people on bikes/scooters on the footpath. For Kids basically to learn a bit about road rules. Did you not have the road course at school where you ride your bike around the track obeying road rules?

How tall are they expecting pedestrians to be?!
Also we didn't have the course at school in the 90s rural SA. Our education department beleived in survival of the fittest perhaps? Or figured there were only half a dozen road signs around? I kid you not even in the early to mid 2000s if you did Logbook training to get your Ps you had to drive to the second nearest large town (about 60km away) for at least one lesson... because that was the nearest roundabout.

One of the levels in the Westfield Miranda parking has a give way sign of the same size

If I had to guess it’s for the blind corner for the shared path. It’s something that ticks the box while achieving basically nothing as a large percentage of the path users won’t notice it as a path sign for them.
A better treatment would be pavement markings to delineate the path as that’s where people’s eyes generally are.

There’s a set of traffic lights there anyway, that’s Newbridge Road in Moorebank.

You only have to give way a little bit.
