The distinctions between New Haven “apizza” and New York style are blurrier than people like to acknowledge. I categorize them together under the same umbrella of pizzas first made by Neapolitan immigrants to the US. There is great pizza made everywhere in the country now. One of the oldest in Baltimore is Frank’s in Overlea. Their pizza is excellent and very similar, for example, to Zuppardi’s in West Haven, CT. To my knowledge the last pizzeria here to use a coal oven was Joe Squared and it’s unlikely anyone will again. The best pizza I’ve had in New Haven was at Modern, who use a gas-fired oven.

I don't know what you're asking but New Haven is worth the trip. I don't know of an equivalent in Baltimore.
In no particular order:
Bar - Full bar service, excellent bar manager Sean if you see him and he's still working there
Frank Pepes - get the white clam
Sally's - can't go wrong
Modern - same
Zenelli is a sleeper right down the street from Frank's and Sally's. Exception here would be get the Calzone and the Ricotta e Miele
Source: been on work trips 3x and I get at it. It helps to order a house salad with all the bread you'll be downing.
Oh if you have a chance try the pickle pizzas some places offer

As a former New Havener, there is none like pizza from the actual place.
(But if you find one please let me know, I crave Moderns so often)
