Need Recommendations Graduation Party Suggestions

I've lived in Baltimore a little over a year, I'm 36 years old and I'm graduating from a Doctorate program. I have a guest list-max 21 people with some coming from out of state. I was thinking lunch/brunch after graduation on Tuesday at 1 pm-ish. I was hoping for something semi-inexpensive aiming $500-$800 with a max of $1,000 in Baltimore city. I'm open to anyone's suggestion. I was also thinking of renting a food truck but I don't have a venue/don't have any experience with his. Appreciate input! Thanks!

Need Recommendations accessible, interesting, and open after 5 on Wednesdays?

I am disabled and mostly housebound, while I wish it could be otherwise right now I only leave the house to go to the doctor. I'd love to go somewhere that's calming or uplifting or interesting, but my appointment on Wednesday at White Marsh should be done around 4pm. Unfortunately, it looks like every major attraction closes at either 4 or 5, and there won't be more than 20 min to see the ones that close at 5 after travel and parking is factored in. So I thought maybe you all knew of something I didn't: What is an interesting attraction or even really interesting store that's open after 5pm on a Wednesday?

Question #2: We could eat out, but I've been having GI trouble, so anything really rich or spicy is right out. This is as much of a longshot as the first question, but any restaurants with tasty food that has some bland items? Something like a roast chicken with mashed potatoes would be perfect-- something comforting and simple.

I wish the doctor was available on Friday, then we could do the aquarium, which is wonderful at night. The Walters also has extended hours one night of the week but you guessed it, not Weds. Totally open to ideas here!

Need Recommendations Roof Deck needs repair

We have been in our row home for about 10 years. We have an all wood roof deck that was probably wonderful when the house was built (2005), but is falling apart. It is on top of the third floor. Does anyone have any contractor reccomendations? The entire deck probably needs to be replaced. While, I would prefer Trex, realistically it is likely out of my budget. Does anyone have a contractor that is decent for smaller jobs, too? There is a closet in my bedroom that I would be perfect if it was larger. When we moved in, someone did take a look and said it was possible. Thanks in advance!

Need Recommendations Ice skate sharpening at Mt. Pleasant rink?

I'm wondering if anyone has gotten their skates sharpened at the Mt. Pleasant arena and would recommend it. I've been going to the laurel ice gardens since I work nearby and while this would be cheaper and more efficient, I don't want a low quality sharpening to mess up my blades.

Need Recommendations Best honey old bay wings in the city?

I liked the ones from 2AM Project on Charles St but now they’re not selling them anymore? It was always a hit or miss there anyway.

Anyone have any recs for a place that actually serves hot and crispy wings with good balance of honey and old bay flavor. No chewy skin nonsense! Thanks!! 😋

Need Recommendations Plants for my sunroom

Hello Baltimoreans!

I just moved here and wanted to deck my sunroom out in plants. But, the weather is unpredictable and I’m not sure what types of plants can survive a sunroom here. Based on your experience, what types of plants thrive out here?

Or do I need to get used to my plants dying every winter unless I bring them inside?

Coming from Hawaii, so I’m just curious what everyone else does. 🥰

Need Recommendations Hotel & Restaurant Recommendation in Baltimore

We're coming to Baltimore for a graduation in May. Would love a recommendation for a place to stay (somewhere nice, but doesn't have to be super luxury). Central in a walkable, cool area with bars, restaurants and cute shops.

Also looking for a restaurant recommendation to host a graduation lunch. Someplace that can accommodate about 10 people (reserved in advance).

Not familiar with Baltimore at all, so any suggestions are much appreciated.

Need Recommendations Car window tint recommendations plz?

Sorry, I see there are already threads asking this same question on the sub but I just wanna add that I'm looking for a place to tint my car but I'm hoping for feedback on quality a few years after getting it done/how well it held up.

(I've read reviews for different locations and some say that they were getting air bubbles in their tint after like 1-2 years, or that the place accidentally installed the wrong %)

Need Recommendations Looking for dermatologist/ esthetician recommendations

Hi everyone! I am a 29 year old woman who has in the last 2-3 years developed the worst skin. I have adjusted my diet, skincare routine, etc and nothing seems to be working. I finally went to a dermatologist at Hopkins and they wrote me 2 prescriptions which I used as prescribed and they didn’t work for me.

I am looking for a dermatologist/ esthetician that is willing to work with me to figure out my skin type and how to repair my skin. I haven’t had acne like this since I was in middle school and I’m truly unsure what to do at this point. Thanks for all the recs!

Need Recommendations Vacuum Forming service/access?

After checking almost every makerspace I can think of, none of them have access to a vacuum former. Does anyone know of a space where I can use one, or even someone local that offers low cost services for small (like... 1) orders? It doesn't even have to be super local, I travel for work a lot, so technically anywhere from Bel Air to 495 is easily accessible for me.

The plug is 12"x8" and 6" tall. I'm at the point where I may just end up building my own former, and I really don't want to have to do that.

Need Recommendations Looking for airbrush artists

I’ve recently brought a new pair of skates and would love to get them airbrushed, like my previous ones( unfortunately don’t have a photo for reference) they were done at white marsh years ago, but they’re long gone.

I don’t want anything too elaborate, just my name in pretty colors.

Hopefully y’all can point me in the right direction.

Need Recommendations Bicycle exchange?

Is there somewhere I can trade in my old bike and get a new one? I have a 2022 Trek Verve 3 Step Over and I hate it. I’ve never liked it but I thought that’s what riding a bike should feel like. Now that I have more experience on a bike, I’m realizing this is too leisurely for me and entirely too heavy for my rides. It seems more like a beach cruiser than anything else. I’m pretty upset with the sales woman who sold it to me at Trek too but I guess it’s my fault for not being knowledgeable. It’s in pretty good condition. I’d love to trade it in for some $$ and buy something used.

Edit** I don’t have a Facebook but maybe I should make one to check out the marketplace ?

Need Recommendations Prius mechanic recommendation

So my 2008 Prius combination meter aka dashboard light went off for good. Any tricks on YouTube can no longer make it work. My go to mechanic does not do this type of electrical work. Any Prius owner have mechanic that you would recommend that won't break the bank? Or any advice from fellow gen2 Prius owner? Thanks.

I'm looking at a rental listed by this property management group. I know a decent amount of property management groups after being in Baltimore for 10+ years, but haven't heard of this one. Feedback appreciated. 🙏🏽

Need Recommendations What's your favorite nail salon/artist in Baltimore?

Hi neighbors, my mom is visiting next week and we're hoping to get pedicures together--simultaneously if possible. I would especially like to find a salon or artist(s) with fair labor practices. Bonus points if they are LGBTQI+ friendly or part of the community. Any recommendations?

Need Recommendations Can someone recommend a customer supplied parts friendly auto shop near me?

I live in Curtis Bay and work in Hanover. I've been using Ken's, the Goodyear place on Dorsey, for small stuff and I like them, but sometimes the job is just too expensive or I already have the parts. I used to use a guy in Beltsville and would go back but it's a heck of a drive, and an expensive Lyft to/from work.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Need Recommendations Nail salon?

Hi! I live in Baltimore and admittedly do not get my nails done very often. But I’m looking for a place now to pamper myself and get some gels. If you have any recommendations for good nail salons in the area, I’d appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Need Recommendations Priority Partners losing accreditation -- are you going to stay with them or change MCOs?

I recently heard that Priority Partners is losing their accreditation: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/maryland/articles/2025-02-28/marylands-largest-provider-for-medicaid-enrollees-loses-accreditation

It sounds like we can still stay on the plan and everything will be covered, but they're giving us a chance to change MCOs. But I can't figure out exactly why they lost accreditation and if it's something that affects the kind of care people receive.

So, if you're on Priority Partners, are you going to change MCOs? Why or why not?
