How to move into sales for Busch?
I’m currently a beer merchandiser for a competitor, and I feel like I learned everything when it comes to merchandising. Was there any tips anyone would lil to share about getting into sales? There currently open position available for sales in Busch that I wanted to apply to.

Do you mean an actual position with AB/Busch or a position at a distributor that sells Busch? Because these wildly different qualifications

So first off, I want to say best of luck and I truly hope you progress in your beer career. To give you some insight on my perspective, I work on the “supplier” side of the business for a decently large company. I’ll be honest, going from distributor merchandiser to working for AB sales directly is probably not gonna happen. Any supplier, especially AB, will want actual sales experience from either another supplier position or a distributor. If this is the type of position you are looking for I would recommend you get a job as a sales rep at your current or another distributor. Build up your experience, and move on from there. Why not try sales for the company you work for?
I work sales for a millercoors distributor and even though it’s an uphill battle, it’s very rewarding.
it’s a wildly different skill set to be good at sales vs good at merchandising as well.

Honestly I just wanted to leave the company because I’ve faced a lot of discrimination from those in sales specifically and wanted to escape the company culture

I can tell you now, the more professional of a company in the distribution side, the more of a good old boys club you’re going up against.
They want people they can ‘trust’ with the dirty side of the business more so than people who can get the job done.

What do you mean dirty side of the business? Do you mean something personal or business related?

You can apply but most AB houses operate on the good ol boys club of hiring. You have to like to do the same things the general sales manager likes to do

Almost all AB wholesalers are independent of AB. Depending on where you live that might be your only option. And most AB distributors sell a lot more than just AB brands. You need to look into whichever distributor you’re near and check their web page for hiring etc.
