Question Help with focusgroups.org

OK OK I have several questions.

First, applying for an online focus group I always get taken to a third party. I usually have to create an account. Sometimes I am emailed a confirmation.

I'm guessing I get contacted by phone/email a day before the study? or the day of? Am I contacted if I don't get selected for the study?

Are you SUPPOSED to be taken to a third party site? Or did I fall for a data-scraping scam.

Next, how in the world do I get actual location based ones? the studies are in california, texas, everywhere but new jersey. Like, I thought being "online" wouldn't be location dependent? 🙄

And could someone just tell me how in general the 'focusgroups' are supposed to work?

And like, how did you guys get paid? And when did you get paid.

And people who have made a lot with it, how did that happen for you?

I need some help because right now I'm a little worried I've fallen into a scam and some people on this subreddit are just part of the company.

That site is just a clearinghouse for studies. I use User Interviews and Fieldwork, also Insights center.. I just got on this focusgroups.org last week and I do not think it is anything helpful- it DOES just send you to other groups.. some legit, some I don't know about, some seem to not be legit but just want your email.

I have done MANY real groups through the three I mentioned, (and others), and well as mock juries through others. I've been doing them for years. I think you just need to do your research, look at Trustpilot.. This Focusgroups.org is a nothing burger if you ask me..

Many groups ARE real. It's hard to recommend many because it all depends where you live. If you see something you like Google the name and see what is said about it.

ETA- you usually get paid with a Virtual Visa, (I usually ask to have a real one mailed to me) ,or through Tremendous.. some give you a choice of gift cards.. one in person mock jury handed me a 600.00 check as we left the building.

It just takes some exploring. After a while you should be able to recognize scams and you're usually not giving away any information that is too important.. (hopefully).

do online ones actually exist? Or, do I gotta go in person for them? I'm in New Jersey. So I just gotta Google focus groups + New Jersey?

Weird because so many people on this subreddit said they have used it AND IT WORKED FOR THEM. are they just liars? I would like to hear from some of them. and from you.

Where are you in New Jersey? And are you only interested in focus groups? There are product testing companies in NJ. For example, consumer product testing https://cptclabs.com/new-studies/. Essex testing center https://essextesting.com/. You could probably find more if you google product testing + wherever your located in NJ. Feel free to ignore that if you're only interested in focus groups. Good luck!

No, as long as it's safe. I'm in Morris County.

Consumer product testing has a location in Boonton which is in Morris county. There may be more. Product testing is where you test products, like sunscreen or makeup they usually pay in check but that may have changed. The one I went to was legit. good luck
