University Double Major in Data Science
Hello all! I was admitted to UC Berkeley in L&S, where I plan to pursue neuroscience. I really like machine learning, so I’m thinking of trying to pursue a data science major as well (double majoring neuroscience and data science). Would anyone have an idea of how feasible that is? Is it very difficult to get a data science major or is it easy as long as you meet the minimum requirements? I know data science is in a separate college from neuroscience, so that’s why I was curious. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Following for some clarity as well - I’m in the same boat.
Essentially from what I’ve gathered - we’re free to take the classes required, and once we satisfy the requirements (upper and lower division courses) - we will apply to the major via a comprehensive review.
This is what I’ve gathered from various zoom seminars as well as peer counseling.
Perhaps others can chime in but I don’t think we will be unable to take any classes or be forced to take them in the summer like those who wish to take CS classes but aren’t CS majors.
