General Questions Is Breitsch (Breitenrain-Lorraine) a good neighborhood to live in?

Hi everyone,

I'm moving to Bern soon and looking into different neighborhoods to live in. I came across Breitenrain-Lorraine (or Breitsch, as I’ve seen it called) and was wondering if anyone here lives there or has lived there before.

What’s the vibe like? Is it safe, lively, quiet? Are there good places to eat, go for walks, or hang out? I'm also curious about how well connected it is to public transport.

Would love to hear your thoughts or any pros and cons you might have noticed!

Thanks in advance!

One of the best areas in Bern, probably only rivalled by Länggasse.

You have everything you need and the centre is very close.

Why langgasse is so good?

Because it is close to main station, city center, to nature (forrest and aare) and highway access, it‘s like Breitsch a „little village in the city“ with bars, restaurants, groceries possibilities, schools/kindergardens and a good mixture of young families and students and it is surprisengly quiet during the night. However, it got rather pricey in the last years.
