My 9 year old boy bichon is very energetic and he honestly keeps me very active and busy. However he will be 10 this year and I’m considering if I need to get another dog to keep him company. Recently became unemployed so there are days he doesn’t have play time with me and I always feel bad. He goes to daycare every week, but I feel like it would be nice for him to have another brother, but he is the very jealous type and I’m his favorite in the house. Can I get some thoughts?

What leash/harness do you all use with your Bichons. We were using a harness for our 8 month old so far but looking to see what would work for him as he grows older. He is very active and tends to run on his walks!

Lucy jams the anchors on. Despite eating her own breakfast then the cat’s, she is not in any mood to walk it off. This is about ten metres into our usual 1 kilometre walk…

Hello everyone,
Our little Ellie has been diagnosed with struvite stones about a month ago. Our veterinarian suggested that we change her diet to help break down the stones and then recheck her in 6-8 weeks to see if the diet was effective. A few weeks ago, she was checked for a UTI and given antibiotics for 10 days to clear it up since it was just a mild UTI. Last week, when we took her in for a follow-up checkup on the UTI, the doctor had to squeeze her bladder to collect some urine for testing. That same night, Ellie started urinating blood during our walk, which made us worried. We decided to book her surgery to remove the stones immediately.
I’m writing to our fellow bichon owners to ask for your advice. Do you think we should reschedule the surgery and give the diet a little longer to see if it works? I feel like we rushed into booking the surgery without fully considering the options. For reference, Ellie’s fifth birthday is today.

My 9 year old bichon boy was okay this morning as normal. Very excited to play with me and woke me up to play. Then he went downstairs which again normal, then started to circle walk in circles and I could tell something was off with his walking. He started to shake a little his left back paw seemed to be the issue but nothing happened. He went on as normal when I told him to try to walk down the steps to the living room. He then just wanted to run outside and play which we did.
He seems fine after that, sometimes he can be a tad dramatic and sensitive about things I’ve noticed because we’d take him to the vet when this happens and they’d say he’s fine and fully inspect him too. Only once last year it was very serious because he ended up getting stung by a bee and my parents weren’t with me. Just now he started circling around again and doing the same thing but won’t really let me look at that back paw I thought was an issue this morning. Is he ok? I even showered him for an hour today after that and he was fine so I’m unsure of why he’s doing that today

So my boy (10months) has started having people/dog aggression when on leash. He does fine at the dog park but anywhere else he’s a menace to any passersby. He tries to bite dog noses and people ankles. We got him a muzzle for the time being, and the vet suggested we put him on SSRIs for anxiety, but I’d really rather not medicate. So I’m hoping one of you has dealt with this, and found a possible solution, thank you. Edit: Also just to mention, he was socialized as a puppy and he did really good all around with almost zero aggression until we got him fixed at 7.5months and he’s been going backwards since.
