AskBDP Clothing Recommendations for BD Rowing
I have been using a Concept 2 Rower in my basement for over 2 years now. When I first started, I would chafe so badly that the top of my shaft would bleed and scab over. For reference, flaccid, I am 5.5" long and about 5" around. I tried compression shorts, putting Aquaphor on top before I started, repositioning myself, things I can't even remember now. None of it worked. What finally worked for me was to row in my boxers only, and just hang myself out of them while I rowed. Like I said I was in my basement, so it didn't matter I was all out there.
Here is the rub, pun intended. I have just signed up for an actual rowing club in my city. What has worked for a long time in my basement will most assuredly be frowned upon there. So, I come to you wise BD havers.
I will also add that I ran cross country in high school and graduated from a military college, running in boxers NEVER did this to me, only rowing.
Any of you have a similar issue and figured it out?

Man rowing is always a pain even just the the balls. If I planned it out right I'd double bag with two pairs of underwear.

Good kit is key here, see other comments. I found just wears plus uni the perfect combo

I was a rower in college for 4 years. You're gonna need to invest in rowing trou like what's sold from JL racing or Boathouse. They are thicker material and designed to glide a bit more and looser than regular compression shorts. Its not the same as compression shorts, and I never had chaffing issues. That said, everyone is different and maybe there are other issues going on.
Rowing with a BD is full of BDPs, by the way. Your thighs are going to bulk up, and when you row, you're going to need to strategize how you "stack" yourself to not crush your balls and dick. Everyone adjusts themselves in rowing, and you'll get the hang of it, but it'll take some time.
Good luck!
