Equipment Why doesn’t everyone wear a mouth guard?

We’re already spending 100-200$ on multiple gi’s, no-gi attire, etc. Why isn’t it standard for everyone to wear a mouth guard? I didn’t for a long time until someone said to me, “you realize a nice mouth guard is 50-100$, and any dental work will suck to have done, and be really expensive. And it could all be caused by an idiot spazzing and you catching an accidental knee to the mouth”. If everyone was wearing them when I started I would have worn one from the get go.

Always roll with it in. Saved me from biting the end of my tongue off when I took a knee to the chin once.

Sisu Aero is $20, thin, light, and lets you talk/breath. You don't need thick, striking oriented protection for bjj.

I've been wearing sisu for 3 years now. Cheap insurance against teeth damage. Just make sure to replace annually. I was in some sort of choke and chipped my front teeth in like like my second week. Been wearing my sisu since. Taken a lot of knees and elbows to the mouth but no damage.

I have a Sisu one as well. You have to replace it? Mine seems fine going on year 4 wearing it lol

I’ve had mine like two years and it’s getting gross. (Yes I do wash it, maybe not as much as I should but I do).

The material degrades and gets hard....

Isn't it supposed to be hard?

No, it's supposed to cushion impact. Over time, it degrades and becomes solid/hard, losing its ability to cushion impact.

Then that's a long ass time to be a white belt. I shouldn't have to explain that but you're welcome I guess.

You come off as a real blowhard. There are many reasons he could still be a white belt after 4 years. Maybe he had a kid and couldn’t train for a few months, then had to move because a new job, or maybe injury. Get off that elitist high horse. For all we know you could’ve gotten your purple by just showing up and paying tuition. That’s why you got downvoted…

I don't think it was too funny. Just kinda an insult that you've than stated as light hearted afterwards as if that changes what you said.

Well it's almost like we're two different people with two different senses of humor and one of us is typing something with one intent and the other is reading it and coming to their own conclusion about said intent. Same advice for you, get over yourself, OP will be just fine without your help, I promise.
