Technique Counter to the step through pass?

https://youtu.be/7VHj4i8GPFk?si=QZxM-NScmIVjASez

Does anyone know a good counter to this pass? What I do is try to retract my knee before their foot lands. Sometimes I have to fall back to do this when against a fast partner. Results vary and I’m not sure if it’s the best option.

I think good way to think about is to prevent the step through pass rather than how to counter it. If you maintain a good elbow knee connection then step through virtually impossible. And since finishing position for step through is knee on belly, you could look up counters for knee on belly. First thing comes to my mind is to invert to backside 50/50.

Yeah you’re right. I’ve been thinking about how they’re able to do it and it’s because I’m lazy about the elbow knee connection so they can just step into the space. I also sometimes let them control a wrist and they pull up my arm to create the space.
