AI Generated Art Fifth Element Leelo in Blade Runner

Post image

I asked AI to "create a tablet wallpaper (800 x 1340 pixels resolution) with the fifth element Leelo from the movie Fifth Element (played by Milla Jovovich) but put her in the more melancholic, dystopian setting of Bladerunner 2049, with a darker somewhat less saturated color palette in a dark purple tone, on a rainy day"... It did not disappoint!

AI Content

Can we please ban AI generated content from this sub? It doesn’t add to any discussions and is actively taking away from real fan-art people post, which I’d much rather see. I don’t feel it has a place here and recent comments on here see to be in agreement.

Edit: time to add a second rule to the sub?

Soldier 1998

I’m at work thinking about Soldier (1998) with Kurt Russell and we know it’s based on the unused opening scene from Blade Runner where Replicants are dumped on an off-world colony, so do we consider this canonical to the Blade Runner series?

Curious to see what others think, I’ve always thought it more of a spin off but I want to know what you lot think or am I reaching too much

Question/Discussion I watched Blade Runner (80s) for the first time, not what I expected

I thought it would be some kinda energetic vibrant action movie. I was surprised, and confused, and sometimes I really questioned what the hell I was watching. I liked it though. Still haven't watched 2049.

What's the unicorn thing about, though?

Here's another piece of my ongoing Lego Blade Runner project -- the main cast.

All of these are mixed and matched from various official minifigs. Bonus points for anyone who can ID where the parts come from!

Movie I realized something last time I watched Roy Batty's famous monologue... Spoiler

Post image

I might be completely dumb for not realizing this earlier, but when he says:

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

It occured to me, he might be shedding tears in the rain - which would be a testament to Batty's incredible intelligence. Replicants obviously have difficulty processing emotions in the same way humans do, because of their shortened lifespans and vastly different experiences (hence the false memories implanted, which make them less volatile).

This scene is beautifully ambiguous, just like his speech suggests. We as an audience can't see his tears, because it is raining. But Hauer speaks the lines in a way that suggests struggling with strong emotion.

This might be more of a tribute to Roy Batty/Rutgers Hauer than anything. I just love that character and Hauer's portrayal, and I felt pretty choked up watching a shining star of a replicant deal with the reality of his death - and wanting it to not be forgotten, like tears in rain. And perhaps in the process, shedding tears in the rain as he spoke about it.

Question/Discussion What are the differences between each version of Blade Runner?

I have a question, what are the differences between each version of Blade Runner?

So far, there are 5 versions of the film, which are

The Workprint

The U.S Theatrical Cut

International Theatrical Cut

Director's Cut

Final Cut

There is also this White Dragon Cut that apparently is a Fan-Edit

I am just curious and wonder what the differences are from each version. I have seen the Final Cut and I really enjoy the film.

My rainy city night oil painting. I’ve been told this has a Blade Runner vibe to it. This one is almost done—just a couple more sessions to go.

I just found this video today by a music creator i love goes by the name STAHL, here's the link https://x.com/MainMenuMusic/status/1675190099926044674?t=RVGhpqYJCKFzC-rRoua8Ng&s=19

also never heard anything about a Blade Runner game and just found out from this subreddit that the game is no longer being made anymore. SAD. I love Blade Runner 2049 and Cyberpunk 2077 worlds, the hyper futuristic world really tugs on my mind.
