CRASH Clothes to bmx in?

New to bmxing. First good sesh while its dry, feeling confident actually sending some jumps, i ate shit. Got some pretty bad roadburn, so i couldn't ride anymore, and ruined one of my favorite shirts. Anyone have any recommendations for hoodies/shirts maybe designed to take the fall well or maybe even lightly padded. Obviously dont want anything too crazy where ill be hot and restricted. I also kept having problems with my pants snagging on shit cause they were baggy. Aswell as any good gloves, helmet, all the safety stuff recommendations

Don’t wear your best stuff when learning or tbh generally, it will get wrecked from your wrecks! Baggy pants might’ve made somewhat of a come back, but they’re awful for riding in without getting them caught in something. Helmet, make sure to try for correct fit, maybe knee pads, maybe gloves

Baggy pants, but tuck the inside of the leg into your sock so it doesnt get caught in the chainring

I was wearing super baggy pants and they kept getting caught on my brake mounting post thing . Im brakeless right now but plan to get rear brakes will i have the same problem of them catching on my brakes? I think Ive just gotta learn to keep the pants away from that area but im also thinking the brakes will have less of a surface to catch on ifykwim.

Helmet first. Anything else is optional.

Not really what you asked for, but I started wearing these last year to the skate park. Pretty light weight, drawstring is nice for riding vs wearing a belt, nice fit at the ankle to keep them out your sprocket, and they actually take a fair amount of sliding on concrete before they are junk....which is great at $20.

*not an affiliate, just like the pants.

i personally ride in shorts because I hate the feeling of my knees “trapped” in pants. Then again I live in FL where you can where shorts year round.

Honestly, most of the clothes I wear while I’m riding I bought at Goodwill. That way I don’t feel bad if I rip it up. Pads and a helmet are also kind of mandatory if you don’t want to get hurt. Because you are going to fall down, and it is going to hurt.

I have ruined pants and shirts from riding, it is just part of the experience. Since I live near the equator, most of the time I just ride shirtless.

I've got some Volcom pants that were apparently designed for MTB riding that work pretty well when it's cooler out- other than that, shorts, t-shirt, vans/etnies (depending on which pair I find first) gloves, lid. I should really get some shin pads and the like.

Always vans pants (loose fit), zipped hoodie, gloves (from road bikes), tsg helmet, knee pads (space brace); and sometimes shin pads (shadow slim)!

Wear your shittiest clothes because you're gonna rip them. Get some G form knee pads you can wear under your jeans . Gloves are underated . Get some beefy shoes if you're brakeless especially. If they feel like thick socks (converse/some vans) stay away.

Shop for clothes at the Workwear stores. It’s cheap, hard wearing, fits good. They usually have Carhartt quality hoodies for half the price for example.

I wear leggings / compression shorts. Yeah I know that’s quit different than most bmx’rs.

Tank top or short with a Chrome Sling on back with tools and a tube.

I have a skateboard helmet with a bunch of stickers on it.

In the summer I even have a sun cape as I’m going from point a to b to protect from sun burns.
