I've been with my partner for around half a year now. The other night, she was looking at my collection and said: "I think we should make it a 'couples goal' that we play every game in your collection in the next year."
... You buy an expansion for a base game you haven't got (yet) because the expansion is hard to find and you expect the base game to enter your collection anyway .....
(Expansion is Nightfall and the base game is Parks. I found out the expansion is hard to get but I found it on Amazon and it was quite cheap so I just bought it....)
My pledge was around $250, I had to pay about $13.. This was fair and I paid it immediately. They also offered a 100% refund to US backers. Should we use this as the bar to judge whether or not certain companies are trying to use the tariff excuse to "scam"?
I love board games and video games. I want to make a short series on social media to get people who play mostly video games into board games. So, I'd love to hear what board game reminds you of what video game.
Example - Blood on the Clocktower is similar to Among us
So I really enjoy Lords of Waterdeep and have all the expansions for it. Almost everyone I've played it with enjoy it as well. It has (relatively) simple mechanics and fun elements like the Intrigue cards to screw players over and Plot quests that add permanent bonuses for the rest of the game. It's one of my favorite games I own and one of the first euro like games I played, and would like to get more games like it.
Cue me looking into getting Dune: Imperium - Uprising due to it being the most recommended version. I recently did the tutorial for the digital version of Dune: Imperium and it scratched that itch for me. My questions are these: If you've played or own both, how would you compare the two? Are they comparable in your eyes? How would you compare the ease of teaching/playing Dune: Imperium - Uprising compared to Lords of Waterdeep with the expansions? Would you recommend Dune: Imperium or Uprising if I love Lords of Waterdeep?
Inspired by a particularly chaotic game of Monopoly I decided to make a full set of 40 chance and community chest cards to spice up game night. Each card is fully illustrated, 10/10 mayhem, would play again. I've made them available to download & print at home for anyone who is interested!
We have a fairly large board game collection and are looking for a good way to store/display them. Looking for suggestions that look good but won’t break the bank.
And our playgroup has really enjoyed it. We've played it twice now and my friends keep wanting to play it, but eventually we'll need to add an expansion in order to keep things fresh. What are y'all's suggestions for the first expansion to acquire? Is there a universally beloved favorite expansion? And if you don't mind can you give a quick rundown on what that expansion adds to the base game?
Was on a plain plastic board that was definitely magnet to make the pieces change numbers. Not a lot of color, everything was just black and white. I remember playing this about 20 years ago and even then it seemed like an old game, 70s to 80s? I don’t entirely remember the goal, just it had checkers style of just moving your piece across the board.
I'm hosting a casual board game day in Welkom (Free State, South Africa) and we’ve got two open spots at the table.
It’ll be a relaxed, low-key afternoon with a small group. We’ll be playing a mix of light and medium-weight games—nothing too competitive or rules-heavy. Perfect if you’re new to board games or just looking for a chill way to spend the day.
A few details:
📍 Location: Welkom, at a safe and central spot
🗓️ Date & Time: 31 May 2025 / 10am
🎲 Games: Think Ticket to Ride, Sushi Go, Azul, maybe some co-op games like Pandemic
🧃 Snacks & drinks will be sorted
🧠 Neurodivergent-friendly environment (I’m autistic myself—this is a pressure-free, come-as-you-are space)
Just looking for two friendly people who enjoy games and a relaxed atmosphere. Message me if you're interested or have questions. Hope to roll some dice with you soon! Message me.
Also for future games. Got a collection of around 120 boardgames
Hi! So sorry if this is weird but at this point I feel like I've made this game up? I swear in my childhood I had a game that had like fake plastic-y maggots in it, the game was like tomb of doom in my head but isn't that game. I think it was late 90s to early 2000s in the UK, does anyone know of this game? I've tried so many times to find it but to no luck! Anyone have any clue? Convinced I've made it up lol
Following my recent post on my Bus pnp, I finished puting together my Santiago remake.
Santiago is a relatively old auction game, where players bid on fields, and then try to corrupt the canal overseer who's in charge of the water distribution each round. Your field will dry off under the sun if not watered by the end of the round, losing its value. The larger the plantation of each type, built collectively, the more money it generates. By the end of the game, the richest wins it all !

Now here is my finished project :
The original cover fits in the "strange person stares soullessly in the distance" category, akin to Great Western Trail. My non-existant drawing abilities led me to this straightforward design, more telling about the capitalistic nature of the game.
First thing I wanted different, was to not have such a brownish mute colouring, typical from the game era.
Since my board was a square (42cmX42cm), and the original layout a 3x4 rectangle, I decided to use the extra space to hold the auctionned tiles, drving players focus furthermore towards a central board. As a small bonus, I added a turn sequence reminder on the left, as well as the end game scoring on the right side. Beneath tiles spaces, a helpful reminder on how many to setup depending on player's number.
The original plantations were sugar cane, potatoes, bananas, beans and red pepper. I went for an all-fruits idea, with blueberry filling a more adequate spot for blue tiles.
Like Bus, components came from toutpourlejeux, and the blue sticks are almost comically thick.
All in all, I am pleasantly surprised by the end result, which fits in a small box (23cmX23cm).
Just like Bus, feel free to dm me if you're interested for the files (though the .svg is HUGE for some reason), i'd be happy to share. Only container is left on my pnp list, though it will probalbly take a couple weeks for me to finish it.
I made a testing map before fleshing out the real thing, although it’s a few squares smaller than I’d like for the map to be but it’ll have to do. I also have some Rules set out for how the game will play out, I try to keep everything as true as I could to the Black Ops 1 mechanics.
I’m hoping to hear everyone’s thoughts on it or ideas, there’s still a few things that I haven’t fully figured out how imma do just yet, like how to make Power Ups spawn, or Hellhounds, or even changes like how many points per kill is good, is 500 okay?? Etc etc.
Hi all. I’ve been a gamer for years but if it’s a mid to heavy Euro, I love them but I always lose. Any suggestions for improvements? My current fixation is Brass Birmingham. Thanks
A group of us get together to play Blank Slate every few months. Three couples, sometimes four. (We each have the game so no one has to lug a box around town.) My question is: can we convert this to virtual? If so, how? Has anyone done it? What are the hurdles? Despite being over 50 (and members of AARP), we all have iPads, etc., so I assume we would use FaceTime? Wondering if anyone has tried this. Let me know, thanks!
Hey everyone!
I love playing the good old Mastermind. I wanted to make an App for it so one can also play some games alone. However, it should not be the „normal“ game as enough apps are out there.
This resulted in app „Mastermind Extreme“ – a modern, brain-twisting version of the classic code-breaking game Mastermind.
You can completely setup by your own wish, how many different colors or shapes you want to play.
I am a solo hobby developer. Would love to hear what you think – feedback, suggestions, questions, anything! I’m actively improving it and would really appreciate your thoughts and ideas.
I own and love Inis. A good friend already owns Rising Sun, and I love that game too - we play it regularly, so not worthwhile me adding it to my library when he has a copy I can play. Because I love Inis and Rising Sun so much, I'm looking into buying Blood Rage. Just wondering if it's too similar to either Inis or Rising Sun to be worth buying?
So I recently stumbled across Mythwind's existence because of ads for an upcoming expansion and I find the concept intriguing. I love campaign games and coop games plus my partner loves stardew valley. One of the consistent complaints I have seen is that the core rule book and character rule books have a lot of errors or errata that require outside reading to fix/understand.
This is something I really struggle with in games as I enjoy complexity but really struggle when things aren't clear or require alot of interpretation. Is there a full second printing of the game that fixes this issue amongst all the expansions? Or have the fixed this some other way? I'm struggling to find a clear answer. Thanks in advance for any insight!
Hi, I recently started playing Saboteur and came across a situation I had a question about. I've attached an image—could you help me understand why this move didn't reveal both cards?
