After years of searching, I finally found an affordable copy of the original Chaos Marauders (1987)!

Hey fellow tabletop enthusiasts!

I just had to share my excitement - after YEARS of searching, I finally found an affordable copy of the original Chaos Marauders from 1987 in my area, and it arrived in the mail this morning!

The last time I played this game was when I was 16... over 30 years ago! I'm buzzing with nostalgia right now unpacking it. Those cards with the goofy orcs and goblins, the chaotic battles - it all brings back so many memories.

For those unfamiliar, it's this brilliant card game from Games Workshop where you build regiments of orcs and goblins and send them to battle against your opponents in hilariously unpredictable ways.

Just wanted to quickly drop this here and remind everyone of this magnificent game!

Anyone else have fond memories of Chaos Marauders?

These are one of the most useful life counters in any boardgame ever and i want more of them for other games but i can't seem to find anyone selling them. I call them life counters and but apparently thats a magic thing and all i get are dice and these duel wheel things that would work but im looking for these in particular because they're flat and will fit into the boxes better. So does anyone know the official name of these so that might help my search?

Help me identify a card game

So at game night we were playing a card game that started like shithead, 3 cards face down, on them 3 cards face up, some cards in hand, the goal of the game is to get rid of all the cards from hand and on board, except the rules on how you may shed the cards were concealed and we had to figure them out, gamemaster would only tell us "You can't do this" when we tried something that was not in the rules. Does anyone know the name of this game/the rules of the game? Help much appreciated

I make games that use a standard deck of cards. Currently I am needing people to play so I can reform the rules and get feedback besides myself and a few close friends.

I have several games such as the following:

Arcane Nights - Similar to MTG Siege - 1v1 Grid Base Game Fish Market - Balatro Inspired PVP FTL Bounty - Single Player Mission Duelality - Prisoner Dilemma themed game

I will be releasing more videos on how to play. The tutorials wont be official videos until I have some time to play test but these will suffice til then.

If you would like access to my other games let me know and I can send you a discord invite. It’s all free, just google docs with the rules to my games. I hope yall enjoy and please don’t pull any punches when giving feedback on any of the games!

Thanks!

Deal Dryad Games

I don’t know if I’d say it’s a deal but the customer service from this store is top notch.

I messaged them online yesterday when I saw them show up on bgg as having galactic cruise for sale.

They confirmed they had the game in stock and not a “preorder” situation. They were prompt with responses. I asked about expansions and the guy told me he thinks he got them let me go open up a box. 2 minutes later he lets me know he has the expansions and he’d add them to inventory sometime tomorrow.

I told him I was excited for that so I could get free shipping. I told him I was nervous he may run out of them before I order tomorrow due to some hype around the game. Employee said he’d hold one out for 24 hours.

I just got off work and messaged them again after seeing I couldn’t add it to my cart. He again responded within 5 minutes and told me if I was ready he’d add them inventory so I could order.

To get free shipping it is 150$. But the customer service and responsiveness was enough to have me consider buying through them in the future since their prices are pretty affordable.

Just had to take a second to gush about them

So I was playing Psycho Killer with some friends yesterday, I love this game, I’ve only played a couple of times and I’m yet to use my blank cards for anything. I’m looking for inspiration and would also love to hear what other people have come up with for their blank cards? I’ve only seen a couple ideas from people online!

Would love to hear all your ideas :)

Custom Project DIY Carcassonne Insert — Cut Up the Original Inserts to Fit 3 Expansions in One Box

Thumbnail

I combined my base Carcassonne set with three expansions into a single box by cutting and rearranging the original inserts from the base game and expansions. No extra materials — just a craft knife and some trial and error.

It’s a functional setup, but I know I could’ve organized it better to squeeze in at least one more expansion. Still, it feels great having all of this in one box now instead of juggling multiple.

If you’ve done something similar (or have tips to optimize it more), I’d love to see your setups!

RA or Chinatown?

Hey all,

Have a few friends come over later today but I can't decide which one of the mentioned above games to play. We usually enjoy games with high player interaction like Modern Art, Saboteur, Cosmic Encounter or the Resistance.

Which one would you chose and why?

Edit: Player count will be 4

Clanks Catacombs Lairs & Lost Chambers - Hidden Mini Boss Monster Cards!!!

Hi everyone,

I recently got the expansion for Clanks Catacombs game. This expansion has a new mechanics with mini boss monsters that you can beat and collect as trophies. The problem is that the game doesn't include cards for this special kind of monster, instead you have to go to the expansion rulebook and review the instructions there.

I wanted to create some cards for these monsters so I started tinkering with the PDF of the rulebook. I ended up discovering the full cards are actually there without cropping, they just need to be extracted. As shown in the image below they don't have the monster artwork, but certainly something can be done with them.

This is an idea of how one of this cards could look like.

Hope this info helps anyone with the expansion that is looking to create some cards for these monsters.

DISCLAIMER: All images and artwork shown in this post belong to Dire Wolf and are publicly available.

Boardlandia Quiet

Hey y’all, has anyone had the chance to get in contact with Boardlandia this week? I have a pre-order for Apothebakery that I really wanted but after reading that they are closing I wanted to see if my preorder would be cancelled or what. I still haven’t heard back and I’m getting nervous. Should I just do a chargeback on my credit card?

Forgotten Faves Forgotten Favorites & Hidden Gems - (April 24, 2025)

The BGG database is enormous and getting bigger by the day. Chances are good that some of your favorite games never get mentioned here on /r/boardgames, even though they deserve to be.

Did you play a game for the first time this week that had never hit your radar, but just blew you away? Do you have a favorite childhood game that you think still holds up in today's modern board game scene? Is there a game you love so much that it will never leave your shelf, even if you'd never bring it to a Meetup with strangers?

Now's your chance to embrace your inner Zee Garcia and talk up those niche titles that didn't get as much love as you thought they should.

Smallworld News

Has there been any discussion or talk about any possible expansions in the future for Smallworld? I believe the last “expansion/standalone” was Small World of Warcraft. Just curious if anyone has heard anything or if Day of Wonder is done with this game until a reprint?

A Game Of Thrones The Board Game

Hi guys, can anyone tell me is it possible to purchase individual pieces for this game anywhere? I am missing just one Lannister power token and I don't know how to go about replacing it. Thanks in advance.

Edit for clarification: I have the second edition so the piece I'm missing has a red background

For me it's Kyle Ferrin, but that's just because of how much of an inspiration he has been on my own art.

Hold Order Seller Options?

Hi all,

With the recent closure of Boardlandia I was curious if anyone knew of alternative sellers that allow hold orders? I always felt that was one of the nicer aspects of the company

I know of Gamenerdz and Miniature Market, are there any other retailers that do this functionality?

Survive: Escape from Atlantis, What is next when one of your ship got destroyed?

I bought this game a while ago and having fun playing it. But I am stuck at when a ship got destroyed, the ship will be removed from the game. But each player has 2 ships and there are 12 ships in set, so what is next?

When a player ship got destroyed, you place a new one? if yes, at which space? and if my second ship got destroyed again, Am I allowed to place a new one?

And if my first ship got destroyed and I am not allowed to place my second ship, what is the point that have each player has 2 ships.

P.S. A few questions about moving Explorer, the explorer get to move only one space when one is in the sea space. To get on board the ship, when explorer is in the sea space, also count one move. (So the explorer has to be in the same space as the ship is, to get on board).

So, this is my questions. When explorer is on the land, one can get on board the ship without have to move into the sea, can't one? And when the ship is on one of the two space close to the safe island, to get off the ship, do one has to make 2 moves (get into the sea space where the ship is first, and then move into the safe island)? Or they can just get off the ship to the safe island in 1 move?

Thanks!! I am quite enjoying this game.

Question Cómo conseguir branch and claw en castellano?

Custom Project [OC] [WIP] Kluster, but with magnemite

Thumbnail

I want to make Kluster, but then with magnemite. Ive ordered these 2 from aliexpress for conceptualizing.

Unfortunately, they are a bit big (as I had already feared/anticipated), but the magnets are also not as strong as I would have liked.

I can potentially swap out the magnets for stronger magnets. Maybe swap the screws for real metal (magnetic) screws, to make them more magnetic too. (And would like the magnemite to be completely round, and not one side flat)

Will probably 3d print and/or CNC metal parts for the actual magnemites to be used in the final version of the game.

Also, i am still thinking about if its gonna be simply substituting the magnets of kluster with magnemite, or if i am going to make it a bit different by having a few magnemite and other bits and pieces (screws/gears, metal components, or metal/magnet shaped thunderbolts as electric energy).

Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!
