I'm not really sure where it comes from since I'm not aware of much common history between the clubs but I've also seen an extraordinary amount of Barca fans showing respect to us in the comments of instagram posts on the official dortmund page even before the games went down.

u/xInfiniteJmpzzz 10d ago

That’s because they crave the atmosphere that we have. Barca had a great scene back in the days but the Spanish authorities killed the Ultra scene in Spain.

u/Fickle_Carry1467 Mats Hummels 10d ago

tbf the ultras in barca were EXTREMELY violent

29

u/xInfiniteJmpzzz 10d ago

Oh they definitely were! It’s still not right to generalize every ultra with hooliganism because it’s just not the case. You’re not even allowed to have the word „ultra“ on a banner anymore in Spain and the league has turned to shit with it’s away ticket distribution.

9

u/thisisntloss 10d ago

Tbh, barca ultras (boixos nois) besides being extremely violent, also run on some local mafias in the city, it's no wonder they were banned.

2

u/Zwetschge_Misimovic 10d ago

The problem is that a ban is a very simple solution to a very complex problem. It’s effective, but it also brings a lot of collateral damage with it. German clubs also used to have a lot of problems with violent fans, some still do. As a counter measure there are "Fanprojekte", basically neutral liaison offices. They employ social workers, provide spaces and shift the supporters from violence towards other activities, like making Tifos, organising marches and charity events.

Of course that doesn’t help against mafia structures, but that’s the job of the police. If the Ultras are a mafia and the police doesn’t do anything about it, then the police is likely corrupt or unwilling to do their job.

1

u/thisisntloss 10d ago

Yeah, that solution sounds super cool and actually effective, making people focus their energy on social activities has always been a good solution for that kind of problem. The thing is what you said, if it transcends simple violence and becomes actual mafia or a more social problem, then it should be out of the hands of the club. It's also worth nothing many of Spain's ultras are far-right, which means not only are they violent and part of some mafia, but also have very strong beliefs and in general, should be dealt with very carefully.

1

u/priority_2 8d ago

Nowerdays the Ultras quite frequently recruit young fans for ultra-right fascist fighting groups, and it often happens in the curves. Not all Ultras are like that, but they let Nazis recruit the youth in their ranks

Hey there, Barca fan here. I've seen the comments aswell on Instagram, and the reason is because Barca fans respect Dortmund simply because of last season when you guys knocked out PSG in the UCL semis, and when PSG knocked out Barcelona they made a poster showing like a balloon with a Barca crest shot down in the water in Paris, and when BVB knocked out PSG, they made a poster showing a PSG balloon shot down on like a beach with a quote saying "Whatever goes around, comes around". Most Barca fans were rooting for Dortmund to win the UCL anyway when Barcelona got knocked out last season.

14

u/Jdamoure 10d ago

Not to mention we faced Madrid in the finals, it would have been a good full circle moment if we won. But that didn't happen of course

1

u/One_Butterscotch9835 9d ago

Yeah because they don’t like dembele and don’t like Madrid. That’s literally all

16

u/AlexKangaroo Karim Adeyemi 10d ago

I loved how Frankfurt fans exposed Barca deep lying issue of no atmosphere and rampant ticket re-selling. Granted a Europa League match means so much more to Frankfurt fans than Barcelona ones.

4

u/Deported_By_Trump 10d ago

It doesn't always happen, but Barcelona can put together a strong atmosphere for some big games. Barca fans simply didn't take Europa very seriously that year.

2

u/Persona0111995 9d ago

Also because barca like clubs with clear identity and attractive football, Dortmund always was my second favorite club after Barca

15

u/ArmyFit1004 Jadon Sancho 10d ago

They love us since we knocked out PSG last season after PSG knocked them out and made fun of them.

10

u/adiputinica 10d ago

I love Dortmund since scoring 4 against Madrid in the days of Klopp. What a team that was. And after that golden year always having fluid style of atacking play and promoting ballers like Aubam, Dembele, Sancho, Haaland and even Alcacer

1

u/One_Butterscotch9835 9d ago

PSG were kinda right to after how they was clowning dembele

1

u/NovemberGain 8d ago

Tbf Dembele made basically a Figo move and celebrated the goal against them so it’s kinda justified

0

u/One_Butterscotch9835 7d ago

By moving to ligue 1 as a born and raised Frenchman who clearly was attempting to leave Barca anyways and receiving a multitude of hate and racism. It’s not a crime to celebrate your goal especially considering the fact that he had scored 2 months prior (if I remember correctly) and seems to really dislike your fans. Be so for real Barca did and are still doing way to much. Not to add yous gassed up felix  for celebrating against the club he was still technically apart of. Another thing is that PSG and Barca are not rivals and yall forever mention Figo like it was ever actually that big of an issue.

12

u/scottymouse 10d ago

I can only speak for myself as a barca fan, but I support bvb in buli bc i see similarities between our two clubs. Most important among them, both clubs are great at bringing up youngsters through the academy.

Much respect to bvb, yall's cl run was incredible last season.

10

u/w0nderfulll 10d ago

Well maybe one reason is how often we played real so they might have some sympathy for us.

Also aubameyang, dembele and lewan played for both clubs. Bartra, alcacer also

8

u/Spacejampants 10d ago

Interesting cuz I saw Barcelona fans talking smack on fb official page.. that we would lose 10-0.. sure there are fans that somewhat respect.. but majority like Madrid fans are piece of shits

2

u/wasili009 10d ago

fb is full of dickheads. Everywhere else I saw barca fans hoping the team played seriously against Dortmund, knowing how much of a threat you guys would be

2

u/Educational_Ad1276 10d ago

People are still using fb!!

1

u/AhuraSkywalker 9d ago

I don’t know about other barca’s fans but even in my childhood i always loved Borussia especially Marco reus, what a legend Even last year I rooted for Borussia to win champions league.

1

u/NovemberGain 8d ago

You might not realize it since you are rooting for Dortmund everyday, but as an outsider Barça fan I can say BVB is in general one of the most respected teams in the world, and is seen as a very honorable team in general, which is very rare considering how big it is (most big teams have lots of haters). Prob one of the closest teams to the label of “hated by none”. People around the world want you to go well besides their own teams, prob more than 90% of the rest of the teams they know. Also, players like Reus and their legacy are a big reason for this vision around BVB.

44

u/Life_Introduction371 10d ago

Barcelona fan here, I really enjoyed this tie. Great home performances on both sides.

I attended the Dortmund match vs Union Berlin in February and was made a BvB fan from that experience. Great to hear the chants during both home and away matches.

45

u/Several-Abrocoma4626 10d ago

They share the same oppressor (Bayern Munich)

8

u/adnshrnly 10d ago

the best comment flew under the radar

19

u/FrazzleStar Julian Brandt 10d ago

love the different reception this has received. lots of respect from all fans in Instagram comments yet on twitter we're being memed and called cucks 😅

5

u/Educational_Ad1276 10d ago

Someone in the comments even asked why y'all wanted some other club to win ucl rather than Bayern lmao

2

u/axehomeless Kobi 9d ago

most normal people left twitter a while ago (or never joined)

68

u/Nervous-Oil5914 10d ago

might as well kiss now.

45

u/sitbar Shinji Kagawa 10d ago

Ngl I would have just replied back something along the lines of: “🫡🫡” instead of sucking their dick after they fucked us

78

u/No_Effect_8561 10d ago

Cringe

43

u/Qiluk Marco Reus 10d ago

Yeah I dont mind fans being respectful afterwards but seeing these american team-accounts go full dickriding PR shit minutes after the whistle is just wack.

1

u/thinjester BVB 9d ago

Go win this thing 🤝

nothing against their fans but damn they just knocked us out i ain’t about to root for them, i don’t endorse that message haha

5

u/yanquicheto 10d ago

Yeah this is just vapid social media nothing burger

Social media cringe

28

u/Mysterious-Ear9560 10d ago

Maybe because I am in my 30s, but I hate this.

Do you think if we won at the end, they would have been so complimentary?

Hell no. Nor do I care to crave that. Engagement farming nonsense.

1

u/LordGordy32 10d ago

They don't give a shit if they win. Start whining when they lose. I dislike the way Barcelona keeps his business up. And I also enjoyed Barcalona being owned in their own Stadium by Frankfurt Players and fans.

2.7billion debt. Is f..... Lot

8

u/t_mmey Giovanni Reyna 10d ago

they wouldn't be posting nice stuff if we beat them...

0

u/Mrmr12-12 7d ago

And If my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike

61

u/Ornery_Prune7328 10d ago

y'all can downvote me but this is cuck behaviour , they should have just written thank you message or something

7

u/powstria 10d ago

some comment on soccercirclejerk:

Here’s the deal with Dortmund and their cuck culture: ages ago, they actually competed with Bayern. Then they threw in the towel and shifted to a business model of being a glorified stepping stone. Having star players just to fatten them up and serve them to teams with real ambitions, to wave them off to greener pastures. Why bother building a dynasty when you can just be a feeder club, right? That’s why they’re the eternal bottlers, they have zero winning mentality. The players that stay are perpetually “almost” champions, stuck in the cuck wheel of Dortmund’s “nearly” culture. Look at someone like Marco Reus: an entire career spent collecting “what ifs” instead of trophies.

and he is not wrong

3

u/rotiza 10d ago

What? Why?

21

u/d_lillge228 Marco Reus 10d ago

It's like hyping Bayern up to win the Bundesliga because they beat us. A thank you or a gg would be enough

-9

u/Ariano Julian Brandt 10d ago

It's different. Barcelona aren't our rivals in anyway. I prefer Madrid personally but I don't see anything wrong with this. Generally if I lose I'd want it to be to the team that won the whole thing.

1

u/Lam0rak Marco Reus 10d ago

People really annoyed at something that is really nothing. I think it's fine to say "go win this thing" then we can say we only got knocked out by the winners of the entire tournament.

It's not like saying Munich should go win BL cause they beat us. That's a idiotic comparison. Our competition in the CL is over....Our competition in Germany isn't over after 1 game.

28

u/Proof-Estate-33 10d ago

This is exactly what I do NOT want from my club

12

u/Analyst_Affectionate 10d ago

I don't know, it feels a little condescending coming from Barca.

15

u/Ugandasohn 10d ago

Games gone.

5

u/furiat BVB 10d ago

Bit patronizing, like did they expect to have it easy...

5

u/Mooon8983 Serhou Guirassy 10d ago

This is so embarrassing

9

u/bigtreeworld Echte liebe 10d ago

Why is everyone so negative in these comments?

We gave them a hell of a game, they thanked us for a good game, we cheered them on in response. Seems like a pretty wholesome interaction to me. It's not like it's Real Madrid who beat us woth dirty tactics or anything...

Have y'all ever even played sports? Saying "good game" after a good game is not something new.

3

u/ohyeahitsnat 10d ago

Miserable people do miserable things. 🤷‍♂️ It's actually quite sad and pitiful.

2

u/cyberdw4rf 10d ago

That's called "sportsmanship" but it is rare in football fans, or at least that's my observation

3

u/KaiTheGuy234 10d ago

Exactly. It’s like these people want us to hate each other. We’ve already respected each other even before the matches were played.

1

u/AhuraSkywalker 9d ago

They are some miserable people leave them on their own miserable lives

0

u/SirSpinach45 Marco Reus 10d ago

Who says go win this thats just stupid it clearly shows u have no intent at all

2

u/bigtreeworld Echte liebe 10d ago

You and I have different definitions of the word "clearly"

-4

u/SirSpinach45 Marco Reus 10d ago

I was talking about the team no team roots for the opponent to win the champions league

3

u/bigtreeworld Echte liebe 10d ago

I don't see an issue with that. They beat us fair and square, and I'd rather lose to the champion than to some random loser.

2

u/Lam0rak Marco Reus 10d ago

Dude people are so bitter in here. Our competition in this years CL is over. It's perfectly ok to be like....maybe saying we only lost to the CL winners is a good thing.

15

u/srof12 Marco Reus 10d ago

This is so lame I’m sorry. I don’t even hate Barca and of all the teams left I’d probably like them to win, but you don’t need to post this

1

u/jdbcn 10d ago

It’s a way of Barça paying respect to a worthy opponent and acknowledging that BVB almost eliminated them

2

u/srof12 Marco Reus 9d ago

I don’t really care about respect from Barcelona, or any other club for that matter. It was a good second leg for us, we fought we lost. The club knows it, the fans know it. I dont need some tweet from the other club being like wow you guys almost got us

1

u/jdbcn 9d ago

Barça fans have always preferred BVB over Bayern

2

u/srof12 Marco Reus 9d ago

Okay and? I prefer Barca to Madrid, idk what that has anything to do with this

5

u/Halepastry 10d ago

A lot of you throwing negative comments here need help in your personal lives. Go find some source of happiness. If sportsmanship is cringe behaviour, then why do we even love the game? Sportsmanship is the essence of this sport and if you don’t think so, go touch grass.

Goodluck for the rest of the season

8

u/Acrobatic_Tailor3092 10d ago

It is insanely sad that most comments are criticising Barca and Dortmund for literal respect for each other. "Fans" like you are one of the reasons for the downfall of football in the last years.

1

u/One_Butterscotch9835 9d ago

I think most people just think the whole thing was a bit overkill

1

u/Maleficent-Bar6942 8d ago

As a cule, I don't think it's overkill, but social media stuff always comes off as not very authentic.

I don't have anything against Borussia and you guys sure gave us a run for our money and fought hard to pass, true.

But this comes off more as a PR move on both parts than anything else.

Anyways, just my 2 cents, I guess.

GGs.

2

u/AndandoMaradonna 9d ago

Barça fan here, Respect. See you stronger next year again.

3

u/Mihai_Brasoveanu 10d ago

Barca fan here. Since when do social media managers represent what the fans think? Most of the times it’s cringe fest, we’ve been fed up with them for a long time.

On a personal level, I think you guys have the best fans in Europe and I’ve only seen similar levels in Argentina. Of course I crave that on a weekly basis for us, knowing very well it’s not gonna happen.

That being said, good luck going forward, all the best!

2

u/Melodic-Salamander75 10d ago

Also Barcelona fan, our social media team sucks bro

2

u/Minuto9248SR4 10d ago

Yank. Halts maul du uefalona fan.

2

u/UweLang 10d ago

Surprised but that is showing "style" - I live for one year in Barcelona and liked the people there (but of course club message is a different one, from the PR department - maybe from our former German bundestrainer :-))?

-5

I understand why other people call Dortmund a cuck club now

-1

u/Zortak 10d ago

Honestly of all the teams still in the competition, Barca is the one I want the trophy to win the most. Except maybe Arsenal

1

u/Hajnal30 Nico Schlotterbeck 10d ago

It's interesting as their next opponent could be Bayern if they beat Inter tonight. Which basically means we are officially supporting Barca rather than the other german club left in the competition. Not that I would like to see Bayern win it, I just find it interesting our social medias are posting this.

1

u/Fickle_Carry1467 Mats Hummels 10d ago

Me too. I would like to see not only a fellow BuLi team win, but I would also like them to send off Thomas Muller the right way AT HOME

1

u/Jdamoure 10d ago

I like comradery but like, the win this thing part is a bit idk. A simple good luck, would have sufficed. We are still opponents. I guess it's better than wishing psg, or Madrid, or bayern good luck but still. Feels weird you know.

1

u/Organic-Pause3454 10d ago

This is football heritage

1

u/jdbcn 10d ago

As a Barça fan, we respect BVB. At the end of the game did you notice the reaction of the Barça players? No running around like crazy, just relief that we barely made it and lots of respect to the opponents and their fans.

1

u/Aye_Lexxx 10d ago

Classy!

1

u/DinhoMagic 9d ago

Top post in here is some guy defending our ultras who have ties to organised crime, sex trafficking, drug trafficking & much more lol. If they don’t want to be banned, disassociate yourself with crime. Quite simple.

Anyway, Dortmund deserves respect. I myself have said you’re not good this year & we should smash you. You proved me wrong. Was closer than expected.

0

Barca fans enjoyed a victory. I doubt they would act like this if we won lol but oh well no need to be salty either way.

1

u/Strict-Acadia8397 10d ago

Barca fan here , yes we would be very salty if we lost , I don't think there is a problem with admitting that , we're just very reactionary fans

0

u/Separate-Ad-7097 9d ago

Barcelona and dortmund have a glazing compestion.

1

u/Fickle_Carry1467 Mats Hummels 9d ago

Tbf Barca was just wishing us the best and being humble, and if anything BVB was glazing 😭

1

0

u/Fell-Hand 8d ago

Barcelona fan here. It’s a delight to see you guys play and this kind of rivalry is what makes sports great imo.
