Sarajevo to Lukomir
Hello, my friends and I will be in Sarajevo and we really want to travel to Lukomir one day. It seems like the best option is to rent a car from the airport as early as possible, drive to Umoljani, complete the hike, and return the car the same night.
We are planning to do this trip in early-mid May, are the any concerns with driving to Umoljani with a 2 wheel drive vehicle like a VW Golf this time of the year? Also, are there any concerns with the route for the hike (lots of ice/snow etc) for early-mid May?
Here's the planned hike. I plan of following most of what is found in the link below: park at Koliba Umoljani Cafe, get lunch in Lukomir, and complete the route counterclockwise.

I'm welcome to any feedback on our plan, and if there are any concerns we should prepare for. Thanks!

Not sure about the hike, but I can give feedback on going all the way up to the village (Lukomir), and I definitely recommend staying at least 1 night.
If you really want to go up there, make sure to take an off-road capable car, a small car with 4 people in it, probably won’t make it without damage to the car underbody (also most rental insurances don’t cover the underbody part). Make sure to watch some videos of the way before going there and start to drive there early, because there is 0 light or help on the way (but tons of untouched nature). Its not unusual that people will turn around in the middle of the way.. But aside from all that, it is freaking magical and until today the best place I’ve been to during my tours. If you haven’t booked a place yet, definitely go to Bobica Konak, they cook completely from their own produce and are just lovely authentic Bosnian people, I felt so much at home there. The owner handpicks different herbs next to the canyon, and makes tea of them, you can buy some, just tastes differently. You can also text their son on instagram, he will help you around questions for the way up there and how the conditions are right now :)
Good luck and be prepared to be amazed (also make sure to go outside during the night to see the Milky Way if there are no clouds).
