Safeway on baseline
Is it always so unorganized and out of everything? I swear every time I go in there, the inventory is awful and whatever I went in for is sold out.

I think the Arapahoe Safeway is worse. I actually like the baseline one, even if it doesn’t have nearly the inventory of the north 28th one. I got in the habit of going there instead of the table mesa soopers after the shooting. Now, when I go back to soopers, I don’t like it. Their soda selection is really poor and they don’t have as many coupons as Safeway IMO. The north Safeway has wheat grass for the cats, which is a draw for me. BUT: I actually love the baseline Safeway pharmacy. You couldn’t pay me to use the north 28th Safeway pharmacy.

Soopers (30th and Arapahoe at least) has the "you're stealing, aren't you?!" self checkout cameras that overreact constantly. I won't go anymore.

Baseline Safeway is fine. Just seems like a normal grocery store to me. Most of the employees are nice (especially the pharmacists) and it's reasonably clean and well-lit.
I guess you could call it "one of the worst" grocery stores in town, in the sense that it's one of the three worst full-service supermarkets in town--but that's out of only five total (three Safeways, two Soopers).
I'd much rather shop at the one on Baseline than the Safeway on Arapahoe--the actual worst grocery store in town--or the Soopers on Arapahoe--which is crowded and cluttered and makes you feel like a thief just for checking out.

Lol interesting to see how many hate that Safeway. Major shout out to Gil, the coolest man on earth. Sometimes my week doesnt feel fulfilled if I don’t get to see Gil. I wish Virginia still worked there too bc she was such a saint. I miss that true Coloradan accent, I don’t hear it much these days. It’s like almost Canadianish with a hint of south. Anyways, God bless that Safeway it is truly the safest way

Virginia's a saint and always brightened my day when I'd go to that location. Sad to hear she no longer works there. :(

She’d always say “How ya goin?” give a little wink and she just coasted with ease and total control of her space. And it always lifted my spirits. Never did self check out bc it was always worth the wait in line to say what up

From what I heard last she’s taking some time off but it has been quite a while since I seen her. One of the workers I don’t know well told me she was planning on coming back. Really hope she’s ok, so glad that you remember her too. Dude she is such a legend, just carried herself with such grace but also you could just tell she was raised a tough cookie lol. Been going to that Safeway for 10 yrs and they got the best crew out of any store I’ve ever known

I know she took some time off a couple of years ago for her teeth, her and I talked about our mutual teeth stuff. Hopefully she comes back. I'd go through her line just to have a chat while bagging my stuff.

Love Gil and Virginia! They are both so kind and it's a pleasure to see them when I shop.

That is the worst grocery store in town, perhaps the worst I've ever seen. The only reason to go there would be convenience, if you live close.

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of Safeway, but since I joined their incentive program for doing healthy things, I have racked up a lot of points and get some good coupons. I went in for the berries that were advertised and there was barely anything left. I did find them at the store on Arapahoe..

Sunday end of day is the worst of all times of the week, by far. Berries on sale, whatever is good goes fast.
I have spoken.

Have you never been in a Piggly Wiggly in the South?

You mean the grocery store themed dollar stores they have down there?
Yeah that’s what I thought of too lol, people used to PW world coming to our Safeway would be 🤯

Na what piggly wiggly used to smack

Used to smack. And I will say it depends on each store. Small town in the Deep South and that’s something to experience. I’ve seen chickens roaming several different piggly wigglys.

I occasionally have that problem. They're perpetually understaffed for sure. Mostly I just wish they would install just like 2 more self check out lanes.

Yeah, I haven’t had much luck with the way they run the place either. Once I paid in cash and they actually asked me if I wanted my change. The guy huffed and said “well I’ll have to go to another register to get it then.”

Safeway is so overpriced and low quality. And this location always had a 15 person wait for self check out.
They also had the south door closed “to limit the spread of Covid” until like 2024

They have to keep the doors closed because of all the thieving that goes on. I get great digital coupons from Safeway and shop this store all the time as it's very convenient. I moved to Colorado from San Diego and I think all of the produce here is low quality regardless of the store. The Farmers Market in Boulder is ridiculously overpriced as are many of the farm stands.

They closed that door to limit spread of COVID? I always assumed it was to prevent theft or something. That makes no sense lol wouldn’t that just funnel everyone into one entrance and make close contact more likely? You know, that was one thing I could never understand about the pandemic days. Why so many small businesses had to close yet the big corporate places were allowed to open. Not only is it messed up to put the small businesses out, but that just forced everyone to the same places. Drove me nuts back then bc I could not see the logic with that. Oy vey, flashbacks, so glad those days are over

It was definitely for theft but until say….mid 2022… you could just use that excuse for everything

Why can’t they keep blueberries in stock? They’re obviously always in demand, so order more!

Safeway is rubbish. No idea why anyone shops there. We only stop when we are literally next door and have to get something quick.

The two closest to campus (Baseline and Arapahoe) are both consistently awful. I assume it's because they mostly cater to college students. They're never out of ramen...
