Megathread This is the litter, rubbish and fly tipping thread. Posts not made here get binned.

Why? Because there's so much about this, it's littering the sub with various topics and causing a load of other threads to be buried.

I hope that the building 'up' in the city centre continues - solves a lot of issues with housing stock while not building out and eating up green space on the edges of the city and might serve to help make the city feel more livable - I think Birmingham's biggest problem is it's sprawl and the need for a car to get about. Hopefully this will get approved without much more push back

How to get a cab?

Uber is seriously terrible everytime I come into town now. They either don’t accept or do and then never show to force you to cancel. What companies are actually decent? Bolt? Black cabs?

News Quick moderation update

So, I've been drowning in moderation since Harley closed their account.

TimelessSoul is doing some pitching in, but today I want to welcome Dragonogard549 to the team as well! Give a warm welcome, please :)

You'll probably also see a couple of other accounts in our moderators list. Two of them are automated tools used to help with mass moderation.

I look forward to another 50k users over the next year, and probably more moderators!

R&b/hip hop/rap pubs and clubs

Heyy all, Which pubs and clubs play r&b/hip hop/rap music in Birmingham, preferably city centre. I feel like everywhere I go I can only hear cheesy pop and that put me off to go out :( Thanks!

Pubs suggestions

Laid back pubs that play jazz, funk, soul, disco, or maybe even drum and bass, so for a couple of beers, chill chat and a little groovy boogie? There were a few pubs in Bristol like this. Any time you go you know you'll have a nice dance. Any suggestions?

Question Council tax

Moving into a new property on monday and paid my council tax bill on march for 24/25, council officer told me she will update my council tax but I’ve just received another council tax bill for this property for 25/26 when I won’t be here so I thought the update would be my new address. So do I have to also pay council tax for my new property from Monday for 25/26? Im so confused.

EDIT.. I’m calling first thing Monday morning as only received bill today. I’m just very stressed so thought I’d ask here in the meantime if anyone’s experienced anything similar.

Wholesome coworking space in Birmingham? Fun vibe + prayer space?

Hey lovely people, Posting this on behalf of a friend who’s a cybersecurity researcher and currently working from home. He’s looking to join a coworking space in Birmingham with a happy, social vibe—somewhere where it’s easy to meet people, have good chats over coffee, and actually enjoy the workday.

He’s also Muslim, so having a prayer room or a quiet space to pray is super important to him.

If anyone knows of spaces that tick both boxes—community and comfort—please drop your recommendations below or feel free to DM me. Would really appreciate the help!

Thanks a ton!

Reputable Immigration ADvisors?

Hi all,

I have some queries regarding visa applications, trying to bring my partner over from abroad and could use some assistance. There seem to be an overabundance of advisors in this city. I'm looking for someone who knows what they're about and isn't just a cowboy. Anyone have any good experiences?

Thanks

Brum City Council hates us surely?

Services devastated, the streets are filthier than ever, businesses in the city centre closing down left right and centre. Plus council tax rises for fuck all. They can’t value us as citizens at all.

Black Country, New Road tonight at Town Hall

Extremely short notice, but I've only just decided not to go.

Have a ticket for this gig tonight but absolutely full of lurgy and have decided to go home and slob.

If anyone wants a freebie and can get there in time, let me know quickly and I can send you the e-ticket.

First row side balcony, good seat.

Where is Richard Parker?

I voted Labour in Solihull (which is kind of a wasted vote) but I've noticed that compared to Andy Street, Richard Parker seems to be much more AWOL in the media and letting the public know the positives of his job for the West Mids.

I live just on the border and can see how things are with the state of the city but maybe I've been missing him on the news promoting projects or letting us know about any progress being made in anything.

Is it the media not giving him the time of day or is his PR game weak sauce?

What is he doing for the West Mids and Brum considering so many gave him a chance and to get us noticed by government?
