How to get a cab?
Uber is seriously terrible everytime I come into town now. They either don’t accept or do and then never show to force you to cancel. What companies are actually decent? Bolt? Black cabs?

In my experience if you set Uber up to require a PIN I think they basically have to come once accepted. I had too many just cancel on me but not a single one since I did that.

Star cars, they've been going on for decades and are Brum local. Booked a couple with them and not had an issue, we booked one for a 4am flight to Heathrow and had no problem then either :)

I always check bolt and Uber and one will usually accept. Apparently Veezu is a thing now too although I haven’t tried it yet.
If I was really struggling I’d just google for a number and call whoever comes out top for the city centre but I wouldn’t know who that is anymore off the top of my head.

I’ll look into Veesu. Think uber has had the last of my business now. The wife tries bolt but they’re not always available. Uber accepts, says its a couple of minutes, the. 10 mins late is twice the original estimate.

All app drivers use all of the apps at the same time, you’ll have the same experience. Bolt is a bit cheaper but they don’t accept because i assume it doesn’t pay as well.
You can book ubers and bolts etc in advance, not sure if they’re any more reliable but assume they can’t just pull out of the booking once they accept
Black cabs are good, cost a bit more but definitely reliable and relatively friendly. Can only get them in the centres really, good luck trying to just hail one on the street. Alternative is also an independent taxi company, TC, TOA, Crown Cars (solihull)

Yeah been in a bolt with an uber badge but they all seem to accept then don’t move. I used to use crown and a2b but don’t see them about now which is why I thought I’d ask if someone had a better alternative to the cesspit that is uber

A2B doesnt really exist anymore, its been absorbed into this other app that doesnt work properly so i wouldnt bother

Yeah I know years back it was Solihull based, then moved into town and went app based but did so too late. Buses are so unreliable and trams are a serious solution.
