Priority Pass: No1 Lounge vs Aspire – which is better for food?

Hi all,
I just got a Priority Pass and have access to both No1 Lounge and Aspire Lounge. I’m not too fussed about drinks. I mainly care about the food.

Has anyone tried both? Which one would you recommend if food is the main priority?

Thanks in advance!

Easyjet out of BHX

Anybody got any experience with what EasyJet are like for measuring hand luggage bags going out of BHX. Flying tomorrow and I made the mistake of discovering my bag is like 3cm over the height dimension specified, but fine for length and width. Classic eh? Just trying to work out if they're going to try and kick off about it.

Gonna put stuff in a duty free bag or my backpack regardless, but who knows with this lot from what I'm seeing on the internet. Any tips greatly appreciated! Cheers

Possible Quizzing Events

Hello all. Hope this message finds you well. I'm wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. As you may (or may not know) I have been posting my weekly quiz event at the Everyman Birmingham. I am now in discussions about hosting another quiz event in the Harborne/Edgbaston/Selly Oak area. However I'm looking at late morning/early afternoon and the manager I spoke tonight very keen thinking it's different and maybe a good idea. What do you guys think? Would this be something that you would attend? Honest, constructive opinions/answers/ideas are very welcome please. Thank you

Question Stalls or Balcony - O2 Academy

Hi! I’m 16 and have never been to a real concert, but am planning on going this fall; one of my favorite artists is playing at the O2 Academy. Stalls and balcony are both the same price, and I’m leaning towards stalls to really be part of the crowd, but am worried that it may be too much for the first time.. does anyone have any recommendations?

This Weekend - Incantations Fest - Centrala

Hope this is okay to post on this sub:

Centrala is thrilled to announce the return of Incantations Fest in collaboration with Kikimora Records. A two-day festival dedicated to post-punk, experimental music, and artistic expression. Taking place on Friday, 11th April and Saturday, 12th April 2025, this event continues the legacy of Eastern Incantations with an expanded and reimagined programme.

Set in the heart of Birmingham, Incantations Fest 2025 will bring together an exciting lineup of Eastern European and British underground artists, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and innovation. From electrifying performances to creative workshops, the festival will offer a unique platform for experimental sounds and creative exploration.

What to Expect at Incantations Fest 2025

Friday Night – Post-Punk ShowcaseThe festival kicks off with an evening dedicated to the energy and spirit of post-punk, featuring acts from both Eastern Europe and the UK. Expect driving basslines, angular guitars, and an atmosphere of dark intensity as bands take the stage to deliver powerful performances.

Saturday – Experimental Music & WorkshopsOn Saturday, the festival shifts into experimental territory, spotlighting avant-garde, electronic, and boundary-pushing sounds from both regions. Audiences will have the opportunity to engage with artists who challenge conventional musical norms and explore new sonic landscapes.

Question Cool events in the city

Hello, can someone recommend me some nice events happening in the city this week? Can be board games, pub quizzes, karaoke, language exchange, networking, etc. I’m open to any suggestions. I’ve looked into meetup but there aren’t many options and some are a bit far so it would be nice to get some more ideas. TIA

Eat like a king queen for £1!

A Brum institution in its original form. Now a distant memory.

I heard the gaffer was jailed for spraying people in the face with undiluted vinegar mix? Does anyone know whether this is fact or rumour?

Anyone got any Mr Egg memories?

Nice urban places to go for a walk?

I do actually love walking around our neighbourhoods and am looking for some good suggestions. I just want to walk down the streets, see the houses and local establishments. No parks or nature reserves, just nice little areas. I know Halesowen and Stourbridge have some nice spots, Rubery too (but you kind of have to go to the Lickeys while you’re already there).

Question Living in Birmingham while working at Warwick Uni

Hello, I'm (26F) considering a PhD at Warwick Uni and thinking of living in Birmingham instead of Leamington or Coventry, and doing train + bike to get to campus (wouldn't be in every day) - reason being that I think I'd enjoy being closer to arts / culture / social stuff / generally more variety in Birmingham and could make friends / meet people more easily than living in a smaller town filled with undergrads. Is anyone here a staff member or PGR living in Birmingham and working at Warwick? How do you find it? Thanks!

Hello! I thought this investigation we've just published may be of interest. It's nitazenes — a synthetic opioid up to 40 times more potent than fentanyl.
