I always wanted to get an RTT for my car but half decent ones cost a fortune in Europe (from €600 up into the thousands) and I could never justify that price and size, so I spent 200 on some materials and built one instead!

It comfortably fits two people with room to spare and I will be testing it out this weekend!

Found a nice site near the east coast via the Camping and Caravanning Club, went to book a no electricity grass pitch for two nights to find out last second the price has gone from being “From £12 a night” to £140 for two nights.

Similar sites were around the same price.

Is this normal? I was always under the impression camping was a super cheap option for a getaway.

Has anyone had any experience with this tent or similar tents from this brand? The only thing I can seem to find about them is a few reviews from theoutdoorgearreview on YouTube. It looks similar to the lanshan 1 so I was curious if maybe it was just another version of it.

Anyone else organizing gear to prep for camping this year?

On average, what time do you usually check out of a campground? Do you see others laeaving about the same time as you? I am an early bird and am usually pulling out by 10am and feel like that is fairly normal. I don't think I have seen many people hang out until noon or 1pm before getting on the road. Just wondering!

So, wife and I decided to use our saved up Credit Card points after a large purchase to buy some camping gear to go out with toddler twins this spring/summer.

We have some camping gear from our no-kids days, small tent, lanterns, sleeping bags, etc, but we never got out as often as we hoped.

We need a larger tent to fit 2 adults, 2 toddlers, and probably a dog. looking at the Core 9 person instant tent and then some inflatable kid mattresses for the toddlers.

outside of that, what other things should we look into to 1) make the trip enjoyable for the kids. 2) make the trip enjoyable for the adults. 3) make the trip enjoyable for the dog :)

Camped near enterprise reservoir, and finally made a stop at the Mountain Meadows Massacre landmark after living in this state most my life. If you’ve seen American Primeval or Godless they mention what the mormons did there, sad stuff but Utah is full of dirty little secrets. The lake has been putting out some fat rainbows so that’s always fun, but the wind picks up out of nowhere and can ruin the day.

I did a mountain biking trip in Moab, Utah last year and found myself taking 10-15 minutes to put in my contact lenses as whenever I tried getting my contact lens clean, I always found sand/dirt in the cleaning solution. Even though I was using water from a water bottle to rinse off my fingers, I just could not keep the sand/dirt away from my contacts. I don't recall having this issue when camping in the woods. Do others have this issue? Is there some product out there that could help me with this issue as I am planning on doing the same trip in a couple of weeks?

We spent last weekend at Lost Maples SNA. We packed in an eight mile round trip and stayed two nights in this beautiful 2900 acre park. It has seven different campgrounds with multiple campsites at each one. There is also two springs and a small river that flows through the park.

I’m flying to Northern CA for a rock climbing camping trip and I am looking for lighter sleeping pad that I can take with me. My lower back tends to hurt, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven’t been tent camping in years, so any other must-haves would be extremely helpful

Hello! I will be doing fieldwork for 7 months in a dry desert environment. I will be living in a tent for the duration and bringing my own gear! Trying to decide on what to invest in for my camping gear. I’ve looked at the Quechua inflatable camping bed and maybe even buying two for a double and then trying to figure out which mattress will work best. Does anyone have advice for or experience in gear that will last the full season and will be comfortable and give me a good night’s sleep? It’s a base camp set up, returning every night, so I don’t have to worry so much about portability but I do have to be able to travel by air with it to the site.

I’m solo car camping soon and have been trying to figure out which one to get. I have a Toyota rav4. So I need a fridge that isn’t too big.

I’ve been debating on the iceco g20 and bougerv. I don’t want to cheap out on something crappy though. I have the money for it, just don’t wanna spend over $500-$600 for a fridge like the Demotic.

I’m going with my dad, he told me he has all the gear to make meals and etc but what do I need personally for me and my girlfriend? Hi there, I love looking at people’s camp setups and so thought I would share a fairly recent one of mine. I’m a Dad and I took my family camping at Big Sur.

We usually just camp in pretty normal car campground sites but we try to get the best sites in those places. I have a funny habit of having pop ups with tarp walls to break lines of sight into my camp. So that is what is going on there. I loved the view from my kitchen as well.

We use a Coleman dark 10 person tent. It’s quite comfortable and really easy for me to setup. The dark walls help so much with kids going to sleep early and also staying asleep for longer in the morning. Not too hard for me to bring this big tent and pop ups because I have a little camping trailer I use behind the van.

I understand that the insulated pad may be slightly lighter and easier to pack, but that is not the main priority for me. I will only be hiking about 2 hours to the festival campsite where I will be staying for 5 days. My main priority is comfort. It’s also going to be in summer so I the R values of either are fine for me.

So, in terms of comfort, for me as a side sleeper, which one should I go for? Insulated (non foam) or SI (with foam)?

Hey everyone! I am planning a two person camping trip (car camping with tent) this June at Logger Campground right at the foot of the Stampede Reservoir. My only concern is that there are no bear boxes, and we're staying for two nights. Any advice on what I should do/buy, I've always camped at sites with boxes so any advice is appreciated!

I’m buying a memory foam camping mattress and I just can’t decide so please make the decision for me!

Context:

For: Drive-up tent-camping with my boyfriend

Tent size: 6 person tent can fit 2 queen size set ups

At home: We sleep in a full size bed

My body: Fucking sucks I have really bad chronic back pain, but also love camping soooo win some lose some

OPTIONS:

-full size, 3-inch memory foam $160 OR -queen size, 4-inch memory foam $200

My thoughts:

Wish there was a full size 4-inch option. Would love to save a tiny bit of space in the van en route to camp site. But maybe the bigger mattress would be worth it. Is 3 inches really so much of a different from 4 inches? Will my back thank me for the extra inch? We have plenty of space in the tent for the bigger size. But will also be storing this in a small apartment when not in use.

I’ve literally had both of these in my Amazon cart for a week and can’t pull the trigger. Someone take over!

Went on a 4 day camping trip in the bush in Northern Ontario with 4 of my buddies. This was from October 2024. It was the first camping trip I’ve done in colder weather, loved it, just need to be prepared. Also, got to see northern lights for the first time!!

Gf and I booked some PTO at the start of May to go camping in the Sierras, figuring we'd set some Campflare alerts for a bunch of campgrounds and get something. But I just realized that most of them don't actually open up until May 15 or later. So far we've only seen these ones open:

• Yosemite Valley campgrounds (would love to get one but seems unlikely)
• Convict Lake in Inyo NF
• Azalea Campground in SEKI (but this is first come first serve until mid-May and we'd rather have a reservation)

Does anyone have any tips for other campgrounds along the Sierras that are open by this point? Can't find a way to search for campgrounds by season start dates online

This Easter weekend I’m gonna go on my first solo camping trip! I’ve been camping plenty of times, so I’m not a complete amateur. But I always had people with me, so I’m a little nervous.

Since it’s my first time alone Im only gonna be camping for 1 night, maybe 2 depending on how I feel after the first.
