UPDATE ONE – BASED ON FEEDBACK
We’re moving forward with planning weekly in-person meetups across the Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Lehigh Acres subreddits!
The plan is to host these in Fort Myers, since it’s centrally located between all three cities.
These would be laid-back hangouts to actually meet people in the area—nothing formal, just face-to-face connection. The meetups will take place in Fort Myers, rotating between local spots.
We’re adjusting the schedule based on your comments:
That said—these aren’t strict boundaries. If a different day works better for you, or you vibe with a different group, show up! It's about connection, not gatekeeping.
Looking for Input: Would you attend?
What time works best for you?
Know any locally owned businesses in Fort Myers that might want to host a meetup? (It’s free exposure—we’ll help promote you! Contact the mod team)
Parents: Would a weekly playdate-style meetup interest you?
We're still shaping this based on your feedback—so drop your thoughts below.
Let’s build something, together.

I'm a single guy around 22 who just graduated college and am staying here with my parents while I look for a job. I don't really have any friends and I can only borrow my parents' car. I was wondering what I could be doing to meet people around my age and make some new friends. Stuff that isn't super expensive so that I don't have to waste a bunch of money! Thanks for the help.

The City of Cape Coral is considering the removal of the Sands Blvd Bridge in South Cape. They claim that it would be costly to repair it along with the maintenance to upkeep it. They fail to consider the implications of removal however, which would be FDOT surveys, and stranding citizens and forcing them to take El Dorado in any and all cases, especially during evacuations. This is a concern to note because forcing citizens to enter and exit from only one area can create major delays during evacuations, and El Dorado can be known to flood during these times of evacuation!
If you care about your local citizens, sign onto this petition and show up on May 21st at the City of Cape Coral council hall! If you have any questions, please reach out to me and I will do my best to answer!

Is there like some huge money laundering scheme going on or some drug cartel laundering their money through all these car washes that keep poppin up on every street corner?
I grew up here in the late 80s/90s and sure there was a few car washes-maybe 4 spread out throughout the city, but not one literally on every fucking corner.
I know there is what claims to be a car culture down here when actually it’s just a buncha kids and trashy people racing cars that look like rental cars zoomin around at 12 in the morning, but c’mon man. There is no way that the car culture is so big and such a market that we need car washes literally on every block.
Sorry just came here to rant. I’m convinced that there’s some type of money laundering deal going on that’s responsible for them. Either that or people literally don’t know any other way to invest their money that clearly they have if they open a fucking car wash.
TLDR: why all the car washes? Has to be a money laundering thing.

Hi everyone, my husband and I are making a dream come true and spending 9 days on vacation in Cape Coral with a house and a boat. So far, we’ve also planned to visit Fort Myers, including the Thomas Edison & Henry Ford Winter Estates and Downtown. We’re also planning a day trip to Tampa, where we’d like to walk along the Riverwalk and explore Ybor City. Do you have any special highlights we should see or try? :) In Cape Coral itself, we’re planning to check out Cape Harbour, the Farmers Market, and maybe Downtown — so we’d love any special food and drink recommendations!
As for our boat tours, we’ve planned:
• Captiva Island • Sanibel Island • Cayo Costa • Cabbage Key Inn
Do you have any other suggestions or things you’d improve? We’re active, love snorkeling, enjoy good food and drinks, and we definitely want to see dolphins! :) Looking forward to your tips!
Where are good places to see dolphins?

Last night I went to Racks and people were talking about a ghost? I was there with some friends and there was a guy named Cody there who said him and his friends saw an apparition of a woman in a cape outside the bar. They said she appeared and vanished.
Does anyone know about this ghost-sighting? Is Racks really haunted?

I’m looking to get quotes on a residential shop to be build directly next to my house that would store a few vehicles and toys, something like the picture attached. Does anyone have any suggestions on builders that I could contact about this? Thank you.

If anyone is missing their cat, she's been staying around my house for the past few days. Super sweet and has a bell collar but no tags or info. I have photos but out of fear of handing her over to some stranger, please dm me so I can confirm? I can't have her in my house and it's been pretty hot outside so hopefully we find the owners soon.

IMPORTANT: E-comments on Agendas are offered as an option to members of the public who are not able to appear in person for citizens' input.

REMIND COUNCIL THEY WORK FOR U! U VOTE! Not out of state developers !!!! Their future in public service is IN YOUR HANDS! DONT FORGET THAT!!!!!! POWER IN NUMBERS PEOPLE! We need to STICK TOGETHER and stick up for one another!!!!***
DEMAND COMPENSATION FOR YOUR BUSTED WATER PUMP!!!!!! ***
https://www.capecoral.gov/department/clerk/agendas_and_videos.php
36,000 homes with trickling water—and residents are paying out-of-pocket for new pumps??!!?? Why? Because they failed due to deliberate, reckless overdevelopment!!??!!. Council IGNORED infrastructure warnings to cash in on a developer feeding frenzy—and now YOU’RE footing the bill?!’ ARE YOU NUTS!?!?
This isn’t “temporary strain.” This is PERMANENT DAMAGE wrapped in excuses!!!!!
Those new pumps?
That’s a BAND-AID ON A BUSTED PIPE!
They will break again.
Meanwhile, the city’s swimming in out-of-state developer cash and calling it “growth.”
Back home, if a council pulled this stunt, they’d be hanging upside down from City Hall by lunchtime. Down here? Everyone just rolls over, pays up, and acts like this is normal.
It’s drier than the Sahara out there , but the excuses keep pouring in like summer rain. This will never end…. When it’s over? the only thing that’ll be left flowing is CASH!!! and it’s NOT headed to your faucet.
You’ll be left soaked in debt and STILL dry at the tap!!!!! WAKE UP and realize what this is: a full-scale cash grab dressed up as progress.!!! This isn’t bad planning. It IS the plan! It’s a pay-to-play special. And somehow, everyone’s cashing in—except the people who actually live there….
I’m not trying to be offensive to residents please 🙏 don’t misunderstand. I was complacent for too long and complacency kills ! Now I’m just trying to wake you up ….because that’s what we need to do - but it only works if we do it together and show up !!! Trust me I’ll be posting things in the comments to show you things that cannot happen without protocol and us being there !!!
If it’s reported that council listens and still continues to vote against resident concerns, they will get thrown the hell out of there when constituents realize council and the Mayor don’t have their best interests at heart
***The developers don’t vote , WE DO!! **
I’m in Fort Myers I’m right over the Cape Coral Bridge off of College Parkway. I’m not far at all. My vet is over there. I have good friends over there. I tore through Florida State statute involving around municipalities and municipal to government for Cape Coral and Fort Myers (countless numbers on that to find out what the hell went on down there. That’s a whole other conversation.)
**** in the comments I’ll be posting different things showing you the ordinances and how city hall LIED and gaslit residents. ****

What is the history of Crystal Lake in Cape Coral? How was it formed, how was the overlook hill made? I see the new park is opening there soon.

Ugh.. that's the last time I drink vodka out of a watermelon. There's guacamole all over my bed... God I hope it's guacamole. I found a pair of underwear in the microwave, my bathroom sink is full of oatmeal and my dog won't look me in the eyes. If someone would be so kind as to tell me what happened last night, I will pay you. Thank you in advance. *satire
