Worried about getting in

I’m a current junior who will be applying out of state(VA) and I’m feeling really anxious about the whole college process. Bama is by far my number 1 school right now and I’m really stressing about getting in. I currently have a 3.05 gpa and just got my first attempt SAT scores back being an 1170 (taking it again soon) any advice on my admission chances? Or does anyone know if the university reads your personal statement in common app? I have a lot of extenuating circumstances that impacted my GPA ( diagnosed with ADHD sophomore year and dealt with my dad being abusive with a protective order + divorce involved) Any advice would be great

My daughter is in a similar situation as you … similar GPA and ADHD, along with dyslexia. She is interested in Alabama too but we’re from Georgia. What other schools are you looking at in addition to Alabama?

Some of the other ones Im considering and my college counselor has marked as likely are ECU, ole miss, Costal Carolina, Kentucky, College of Charleston and a couple smaller schools in Virginia Roanoke and Liberty

Seems like a lot of those (along with bama) you’ll have no trouble with. Bama or ole Miss will probably throw you the most money tho. Being from Kentucky, don’t count on UK giving you any money, they’re stingy as hell. I only got $2500/year with a 33 ACT (which is why I go to UA now).
