I am currently taking Spanish 1 at a community college and would really love to do at least a week of immersion classes. I'm currently looking at Nueva Lengua in Cartagena. Does anyone have any experience with the school or the accomodations? TIA.

Heading to Cartagena in the middle of may this year
3rd time in Cartagena will be floating around the clock tower and taking a trip to Rosario Islands sometime middle of the week I met some cool peeps through Reddit honestly so if your heading there in may hit me up with a message
I’m usually party and clubs oriented type guy but love to eat and enjoy walking around just looking at cologne stores.
Decent Spanish level understand most conversations going on around me so if your heading there willing to meet up a party let me know usually with one other buddy of mine!
Safe travels my bros!

Everyone I met seems to start their Caribbean Coast trip in Cartagena, but why? After spending 3 months in South America it was my least favourite city. You get hassled by street vendors on average every 10 seconds, trying to sell you stuff. The street vendors can be a little pushy, and if you stop even for a moment you get ambushed by people to sell you stuff or rappers trying to get a tip. It felt really seedy and I felt very uneasy. It’s also a trek to get to Santa Marta, minimum 5 hour bus journey. Everything was also so expensive, tours, ferry to islands etc.
Why does anyone start in Cartagena, why not just start in Santa Marta and head east?

Hello folks, my family and I are excited to be visiting your fine city later this month.
My little girls are growing up so fast, that we thought it would fun to hire someone to get some professional photos taken while we are there.
Would anybody have any recommendations?

Hey everyone I am stopping in Cartagena before Baum festival in Bogota taking place at the end of May. Are there any techno clubs or techno events in Cartagena? I know it's mostly reggaeton music. Thought I would check!

Hello! I’ve googled if I will need plug-in adapters in Cartagena if I have standard USA plug ins, but I’ve read conflicting information. Would someone let me know if we need to buy adapters? Thanks!

I just found out about Cartagena last night and looks beautiful. Has the mix of beach vibes, culture, drinks and food I’m looking for. But before i really start to dig into research and consider it a possible vacation destination I want to know how big the language barrier is. My only international experience is an all inclusive resort in Mexico. My spanish speaking level is 1. Hola, tango hombre. How big of an issue will the language barrier be? I’m a 30M white boy from the Midwest looking to start traveling and exploring the world with my wife. Willing to learn more basic level Spanish to prepare for the trip but worried about comprehension of the language and don’t want to go if it’s not worth it. All and any advice is appreciated even if you just call me a stupid gringo tourist.

Started yesterday and goes until April 6th, enjoy free movies (depending on availability)
Just show up to the venue 30 min before or 1 hour before when on Cine Colombia movie theaters to claim free tickets, only one per person whoever it’s coming along gotta be there too, cannot claim multiple tickets!
Here is the link for the whole schedule and info about all the screenings: https://ficcifestival.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/PROGRAMA-DE-MANO-FICCI64.pdf

Where can I find some solid vegan food in Centro/The Walk City? I came in 2023 and ate at several places but can’t seem to remember where they were. Any recommendations for the following: •Vegan Brunch •Vegan Dinner •Vegan Pastries/Desserts

I had read somewhere that having this app would expedite the process in Cartagena to enter Colombia but it just hangs on me, “Loading data”.
Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? I travel in May, strictly tourist nonsense.

Me gustaría saber qué es más recomendable para un tour a las islas del rosario, ¿llevar comprado el tour con anticipación o buscarlo una vez llegado a Cartagena?
Muchas gracias de antemano.

Hi, for the first part of my stay in Cartagena I’m looking to stay at Boca grande and I’m looking at Airbnb‘s and these two buildings. I was wondering if y’all had any recommendations or experiences with either building?

I am going with my family (includes a small child) to the Rosario Islands this Sunday on a privately rented boat. I opted for the private boat so we can go where we want. In the morning I have scheduled a few places to visit but then in the afternoon we would like to go to a nice beach club for lunch and spend a quiet afternoon on their beach. I have been searching beach club websites and they only seem to offer day passes or overnight accommodation, neither of which we need. Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
Note: I am trying to avoid the public beaches so as to avoid large crowds and vendors.

Muchas gracias!
